Saturday at the Greenwood Cemetery, Ruston, LA. Al's friend, Rev. Ramon Warren will officiate. Al lived most of his early years in Ruston, LA, graduating from Ruston High School where his No 31 was usually visible on the Bearcat football field on Friday nights. He loved the sport and all of his 1947-1950 Bearcat team mates. Al and Jackie (Lazarus) were married in Ruston January 27, 1955 and departed for Sacramento, CA. to begin an incredilble life of 53 years together. Al enlisted in the US Air Force in 1951 and proudly served until his retirement in 1971 as a M/Sgt. and Reciprocal Engine Supervisor. He served his country during Operation Redwing nuclear testing at Enewetak Island, and was a Korean War Veteran as well as a Viet Nam veteran. While in the Air Force he was stationed at McClellan AFB and Travis AFB in CA, Connallly AFB in TX, Yokota AFB in Japan and Ramstein AFB in Germany. Retirement in Bastrop brought many hours of square dancing with the Belles and Beaus and many more playing canasta when the group developed bad knees and fragile bones. His delight was camping and fishing at Lake Chicot County Park with all his AR and Bastrop friends. Al's great sense of humor endeared him to everyone and he had many friends that will long remember his smiling face.
