TUMINELLO Funeral Mass for Anthony Tuminello, Jr., 89, of Monroe, LA, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Joseph Martina officiating. Graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday at Greenlawn Cemetery in Greenville, Mississippi, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the funeral home with Rev. Joseph Martina, Pastor of Our Lady of Fatima Church presiding. Anthony Tuminello, Jr., was born August 1, 1925, to Anthony and Rosalie D'Antone Tuminello in Clarksdale, Mississippi and he passed away in Monroe on June 21, 2015. Mr. Tuminello attended public schools in Clarksdale, graduated from Bobo High School in 1943 after which, he went on to become a part of the thousands of young men who became known as a part of the "greatest generation" for doing his share to help his country during World War II. At the young age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Navy and started his Naval career in the San Diego, California U.S. Navy Yard followed by three years in the South Pacific, served on the USS Leon and finished his naval career as Store Keeper 2nd Class in Hawaii. Tony, as he became known returned to Clarksdale, Mississippi in 1946 where he met and married Lola M. Murphree. They were married in 1948 and resided in Clarksdale for the following six years, where he learned the hardware business, which prepared him for a career that lasted the rest of his life. In 1954 they moved to Greenville, Mississippi, where he became associated with Baird and Company Hardware Company. This association led him to Henderson Baird Hardware where he remained his entire career as a Sales Representative which brought him to Monroe, Louisiana in 1974. He traveled for his company and became their top producer for 16 years until his retirement, after which he developed his own real estate enterprise, which kept him busy for many years. While living in Greenville, he and his family of four children were devoted members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He was an active member in the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight, State Secretary and Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Knights. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. When they moved to Monroe, they became communicants of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where he has served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He found his greatest joy in his daughter and three sons as well as later in life grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved fishing and hunting with his sons and especially enjoyed his life at Caney Lake. Tony is survived by his wife, Lola they would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on June 21st. He is also survived by his daughter, Terry Lynne Brulte of Simsboro, LA; son, Anthony Tuminello III (Trey) and wife Hazel of Simsboro, LA; son, Richard Kary Tuminello and wife Marci of Monett, Missouri. Also surviving him are grandchildren, Kacy Renee Tuminello of Aurora Missouri, K.T. Tuminello, Salisbury, Maryland, Kristina Jean Byrd and husband Robby of Arcadia, LA, Kathryn Tracie Tuminello of Simsboro, LA, Todd Barker of Nunica, Michigan, and Laurie Jenkins of Pontotoc, Mississippi, and ten great grandchildren. Besides his immediate family his memory will always be cherished by his beloved sisters, Palmyra Shapley of Ridgeland, MS, and Mayrene Messer of Brandon, MS, and loving nieces and nephews as well as special loved friends, Douglas St. John and wife Joyce of Greenville, MS, and Joan and Jerrel Chafin of Lafayette, LA. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Rosalie and Anthony Tuminello; his beloved youngest son, John Stephen; his brother, Richard; infant brother, John; and his sister, Doris Tuminello Mansour. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your charities of choice, or to Our Lady of Fatima Church, St. Vincent de Paul or Ronald McDonald House. Pallbearers will be Raymond Messer, David Messer, Marshall Mansour, Steve Mansour, Richard Shapley and Christopher Shapley. Honorary pallbearers will be Rich Peel, Herb Scribner, Ed Dinger, Andrew Scurria, Jody Lofton, Mike Waterman, John Ed Quarles, Sal Pitarro, Dr. Emile Barrow and Harry Carter. Tony was a happy, loving, carefree human and we pray that you who knew him would remember him as such. He made everyone laugh and brought joy to those around him. We will miss him all of our lives and will remember this "He that is of merry heart hath a continual feast."
