There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service. His final resting place will be at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, LA. Mr. Tyner, 64, of Pollock, passed away September 30, 2009. Louis graduated from West Monroe High School, received his bachelor's degree from University of Louisiana at Monroe and performed post graduate studies at Loyola University. Louis was a stock broker, real estate investor, small business owner and most recently, a substitute teacher at Grant High School and choir member of Pollock United Methodist Church. "Sonny" as he was known to family, will be remembered as a caring person with a wry sense of humor who enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, talking about current events, traveling and walking his dogs. He found serving others especially rewarding and enjoyed his role as substitute teacher and FEMA volunteer. He was preceded in death by his father, George Edmond Tyner; mother, Glyde Holmes Tyner Pettit. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Tracy Tyner of New York, NY and Jennifer Tyner of Atlanta, GA; sister, Bonny Herndon of Waco, TX; niece, Jane Herndon of Waco, TX; nephew, Paul Herndon and his wife Stephanie of Gilmer, TX; great nephews, Mark and Jacob Herndon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pollock United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 418, Pollock, LA 71467.
