ALEX IRVIN VARNELL

Funeral services for Alex Irvin Varnell, 87, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, 
March 22, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Dr. Mark Fenn 
officiating.

Mr. Varnell was born on March 19, 1929 in Winnfield, LA and passed away on 
March 19, 2016 in Monroe, LA. He was a retired Lumberjack and loved spending 
time with his family. His favorite pastime was woodworking, gardening and 
guitar. Alex is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Betty Varnell; 
three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Mary Tharpe Varnell; step children, Pam 
Kennedy; Michelle Howard Vasquez and husband Joe; Charles Howard, Jr. and wife 
Melissa; and Chris Kennedy and wife Paula; four grandchildren, Holly Sams, Ben 
Hodnett, Candice Yonker and Ashley Peters; two great-grandchildren, Bryce and 
Isabella; nephews and nieces; friends, Sharon and John Benton; and feline 
companion, Spike.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, March 21, 2016 at 
Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
