Memorial services for Rev. Kirby A. Vining, age 77, of Ruston will be held at 
11:00 AM Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church in 
Ruston, LA. Officiating the service will be Rev. J. Roddy Taylor, Rev. Robert 
Burgess, and Rev. Jerry Hilbun under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home 
in Ruston.

Rev. Vining was born July 19, 1931 in Choudrant, LA and passed away Tuesday, 
January 20, 2009 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston following a 
lengthy illness.

He served as a Methodist minister in the Louisiana Conference, having churches 
in Simsboro, Berwick, Leesville, Slidell, Minden, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, 
Farmerville, Sterlington, Tallulah, and Denham Springs. He was a District 
Superintendent in Baton Rouge and Lafayette.

Rev. Vining is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Elva Vining; 
brothers: Basil, Malcolm, Inman, Clarence, and Buster; sister: Mary Elizabeth 
Pinker; and daughter: Karen Vining.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Lewis Vining; son: Michael Lewis Vining; 
daughter: Alice Vining Leatherman and husband Kenneth; grandson: Wesley 
Leatherman; brother: Willie Earl Vining and wife Vyonelle; and sister: Helen 
Madison and husband James.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM until service time Saturday January 24, 
2009 at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Memorial may be made to the Karen Vining Memorial Arbor Walk at the Louisiana 
Methodist Children's Home.
