VINSON, JR. Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home, Tallulah, LA. Funeral services for Mr. Wade M. Vinson, Jr., age 81, of St. Joseph will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010 in the Maryland Baptist Church near St. Joseph, with Rev. Larry Foster officiating with the eulogy given by Judge Dewayne Hale. Visitation will be Friday, January 1, 2020 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Maryland Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Legion Cemetery in Newellton, LA under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah. Mr. Vinson died early Thursday, December 31, 2009 after a lenghty illness. He was born in Oak Grove, LA and had lived in Tensas Parish since 1941. He was a retired farmer and a member of Maryland Baptist Church. In 1977, Mr. Vinson and several other Tensas Farmers were instrumental in building the Tensas Co-Op Gin where he served on the board of directors for several years. Mr. Vinson is a member of the Louisiana Cattleman's Association, Tensas Farm Bureau and past Tensas Parish School Board Member for 18 years. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Virginia Sue Hale Vinson of St. Joseph, LA; 3 sons Mike Vinson and wife Marcella of St. Joseph, David Vinson and wife Robin of Martin, South Dakota and Steve Vinson and wife Donna of St. Joseph, LA; 4 grandsons Mickey Vinson, Dale Vinson, Matt Vinson and Blake Vinson; 4 granddaughters Erin Vinson, Sophie V. Kriss, Abby Vinson and Lana Vinson; 5 great-grandchildren Garrett Vinson, Taylor Vinson, Ashlynn Vinson, Matti Vinson and Brody Vinson; 3 step grandchildren Jennifer Ellerbe, Juli Hale, Eric Hale and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wade Vinson, Sr. and Sabra Vinson and a sister Maxine Outlaw. Active pallbearers will be Michael W. Vinson, Jr., James Dale Vinson, Matthew Lynn Vinson, Steven Blake Vinson, Richard Hale and Brandon Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Outlaw, Michael Garrett Vinson and Dickie Smith.
