The son of Bernard L.Waite, Sr. and Julia F. Waite, he was born June 15, 1923, and was a lifelong resident ofRayville. Associated with Richland State Bank for 52 years, Mr. Waite served as President of the bank from 1980 to 1987 and continued on the Board of Directors until 2000 when he was honored as Director Emeritus. During this time he was also active in the Louisiana Banking Association and served on its Board of Directors. The LBA honored him in 2001 commemorating his distinguished service in Louisiana banking industry. Mr. Waite was a dedicated member of Rayville United Methodist Church since 1936.He spent many years as a leader in various capacities including the Administrative Board, Finance Committee and Church Treasurer. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Waite was a long time member of R. F. McGuire Lodge, Monroe Scottish Rite, Barak Shrine, American Legion Post 0122 and the Sons of the American Revolution. He enjoyed hobbies of collecting stamps and coins and pursued his interest in genealogy. He loved traveling with friends and family, and during the retirement years he was an avid reader. Mr. Waite is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lennis D. Waite; daughter Sue W. Johnson and her husband Paul of Morganton, NC; a brother Max F. Waite of Houston, TX; granddaughters Ellen J. Dailey and her husband Jim of Denver, CO, and Kathryn J. O'Donnell and her husband Tod of Ft. Mill, SC; great grandsons Jacob O'Donnell and Brady O'Donnell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 17 at Rayville United Methodist Church officiated by Reverend Ted Freeland and Charles Germany. Internment will follow in Rayville Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, August 16 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home Rayville. Pallbearers will be Fred Franklin, Jack Fuller, John Lowrey, John Mulhern, Mike Scarbrough, Tommy Smith, Jimmy Whitman, Jr. and Langston Yancey. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Rayville United Methodist Church.
