Joyce Ann was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church who lived her faith and through her faith developed an inspirational inner strength and contentment. She was a homemaker and retired bookkeeper for the Richland Parish School Board, being an avid reader who enjoyed her family, music and crossword puzzles. Mulhearn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with visitation from 10:00 until 11:30AM on Tuesday the 9th day of June, 2015 with mass to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Phillip Pazhayakari officiating. Interment will be in the Mulhern Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Pallbearers are J. R. Schmidt, Randy Walters, Noland Stewart, Brian Shirey, Zachary Watkins, and Daniel Perk. Preceded in death by husbands, Glen Bruton Powell and Kermit L. Walters, and sisters, Beverly Kennedy, Betty Jean Phillips and Dorothy Ruth Hall. Left to cherish her memory include daughter, Carol Powell Schmidt and husband Jon, of Hammond, daughter, Glenda Powell Watkins of Rayville, son James G. Powell of Monroe, grandchildren, Zachary M. Watkins and wife, Whitney, of Winnsboro, Brian Shirey and wife Toni, and Jessica Shirey and husband, Noland Stewart, of Hammond; She is also survived by her brother, James N. Phillips, Jr. and wife, Vernice, of Arlington, Texas. The family would like to thank the staff at Rayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Inc. and the Richland Hospice for their care and concern and request that in lieu of flowers any memorials be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 716 Francis Street, Rayville, LA 71269 or a charity of choice .
