JOHN DAVID WALTERS

John David Walters, age 82, passed peacefully away November 4, 2015, after a 
lengthy illness. He was an amazing husband, father, brother and friend and was 
loved beyond measure. He is survived by his wife, Sue Ann (Susie) Walters, 
daughter, Martha Jane Caudle and her husband, Tom Caudle, daughter, Stephanie 
Walters, granddaughter, Claire Wortham and her husband, Gary Lynn Wortham, Jr. 
and granddaughter, Michelle McKay. He is also survived by his brother, Olen 
(Doc) Walters and sisters, Selma Blackwood and Maxine Sanders as well as his 
sisters-in-law, Jane Fabrizio, Faye Clarke, Cynthia Van Landingham, Peggy 
Walters, Carolyn Walters, Lois Walters, and brothers-in-law, Claude Clarke, Tom 
Clarke, Joe Fabrizio and B.J. Sanders. He also leaves behind a host of nieces 
and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Dave was born in West Carroll Parish, Louisiana to Spurgeon and Laura Mae 
Walters. He graduated from Pioneer High School, received a bachelor's degree 
from Louisiana Tech and a master's degree from Louisiana State University. 
While studying for a doctorate degree at L.S.U., Dave was instrumental in the 
development of Karmex, the chemical used worldwide to eradicate weeds in field 
crops.

Dave was a long time member and elder of Graceminster Presbyterian church. Dave 
worked as an agronomist for L.S.U, a zone manager for the tractor division of 
Ford Motor Company and as a Land Man for the Sicily Island Levee Project.

Dave's unique perspective on life and tremendous talent for storytelling 
yielded many hours of entertainment for his loved ones. His heart for service 
guaranteed that no one he was aware of would do without, including pets and 
farm animals. He enjoyed a rich and wonderful life and he will be greatly 
missed by the many who benefited from his unconditional love and compassion. We 
were blessed to have him and look forward to being with him again soon.

Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at Graceminster Presbyterian 
Church on Monday, November 9, 2015, with the visitation beginning at 12:00 noon 
and the Memorial Service following at 2:00 P.M. to be officiated by the 
Reverend Bruce Rux. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ouachita 
Council on Aging and the Ouachita Animal Shelter.
