ROBERT G. WARD 

 

Robert G. “Bob” Ward, devoted husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and artist, 
passed away on Nov. 7, 2025, at age 87, surrounded by family. 

Born May 20, 1938, in Peoria, Illinois, Bob pursued art from an early age. He 
earned a B.F.A. from Illinois Wesleyan University, an M.A. in Painting from the 
University of Iowa, and an M.F.A. in Painting from Louisiana Tech University. In 
his 42 years as a Professor of Art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, he 
helped build the department and inspired generations of students to see the 
world anew and trust their artistic instincts. 

A prolific painter, Bob received numerous awards and exhibited his work in 
galleries and shows across the country. His paintings remain a testament to his 
vision and craftsmanship. 

Bob is survived by his wife of more than 31 years, Linda Thomas Ward; his 
children Brian Ward (Bethany Ward), Kathryn Ward, and Megan Snider (Hayne 
Rainey); and his grandchildren Emily, Abigail, and Joshua Ward. 

The family will hold a private service, with a celebration of life to be 
announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ULM 
Foundation in honor of Robert G. Ward. May his memory be a blessing.
