Visitation will take place Sunday, November 8, 1:00 - 6:00 PM. at Miller Funeral Home, with the family hour at 5-6pm. An Omega Omega Service by the Monroe Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta is scheduled for 4:30PM. Mrs. Washington-Madison transitioned from this life on Monday, November, 2, 2015 after a long illness, at the age of 64. A 1969 graduate of Carroll High School, she received a B. S. degree in Home Economics from Grambling State University, and a Master of Arts in Education from Northeast LA University. She began a career with the Ouachita Parish School System as a Home Economics teacher. Mrs. Washington-Madison was later employed for 19 years with Entergy Louisiana, formerly Louisiana Power and Light, advancing to the position of Customer Service Manager. She recently retired from the Monroe City School System where she taught gifted students. Throughout her life and varied careers, she continued to be a positive role model to young people, projecting confidence, grace and poise as she always made elegant fashion statements. Her desire and challenge of her students to pursue academic excellence will forever enshrine her in the memory of all who knew and loved her. She is survived by one sister, Debbie Blue, Monroe, LA; two brothers, Kelvin Washington (Margaret), Stafford, Texas; Alfred Washington (Charlesetta) Mansfield, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
