She was seventy-eight years old. The daughter of Joseph S. Guerriero and Marion Frances Dowling Guerriero, she grew up in Monroe, Louisiana where she attended Neville High School and was selected as The Best High School Actress in the State of Louisiana. She went on to be one of the very first female graduates of the Vanderbilt University Engineering School. She worked for many years as a civil engineer for the City of New Orleans and she designed many of the bridges that cross Bayou Saint John. While working as an engineer, she was the featured contestant on the television show "To Tell the Truth." In her spare time she wrote and recorded music. She was also a real estate agent and broker, an active member of the New Orleans Opera Guild, and an officer in the Ochsner Wives Club for many years. After raising her family, she returned to school and graduated from Loyola Law School in 1991. In her later years, when not playing cards with her friends, she could always be found as a fan in the stands at her grandchildren's sporting events. She is survived by her children, Marion Dowling Welborn Weinstock, Carol Louise "LuLu" Welborn Reisman, and Samuel Joseph "Joe" Welborn and nine grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as "Mam": Jake Weinstock, Nancy Weinstock, Frances Reisman, Howie Weinstock, Charlie Reisman, Kelly Weinstock, Caroline Welborn, Maddie Welborn, and Brooks Welborn. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Dowling "Joe D" Guerriero of Monroe. Visitation begins at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. For those preferring a donation in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America or the ALS Association.
