Torchie Whatley was born on November 11, 1944 in Toledo, Ohio and passed away on November 26, 2008 in Delhi, LA after an 8 yr. courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Torchie was preceded in death by her parents, Ora Lee and Earnest Floyd Spann; father-in-law, Joe Whatley; brother, Dewayne Spann; brother, James Spann; and nephew, Kody Spann. She loved her job dearly at Forest High School. She also loved every teacher, student and support worker there. She worked hard in the Relay for Life effort with many of her friends and family. She loved her time with the Red Hat Ladies: their travels, food, and card games. Most of all she loved God and her church family. She will be forever missed by her family and friends. Even after her earth life was over she wanted to continue to help people by donating her body for research. She always said if only one person benefited from it, then it was all worth it.
