ELBERT D. WHEELIS

Funeral services for Mr. Elbert D. Wheelis, age 76, of Ruston, Louisiana, 
formerly of West Monroe will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at 
Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Rev. 
Carol Cotton - Winn. Assisted by Rev. Bob Deich. Interment will follow at 
Walnut Grove Cemetery in West Monroe, Louisiana under the direction of 
Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.

Mr. Wheelis was born on August 9, 1938 in Jackson Parish and passed away on 
Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Ruston.

He was preceded in death by his parents James N. "Polie" Wheelis and Euna 
George Wheelis.

Mr. Wheelis was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. He also served in 
the United States Marine Corp. He loved camping and traveling with his wife and 
family. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Wheelis is survived by his wife of 56 years: Janelle Wheelis; sons: Stephen 
(Lynn) Wheelis, Michael Wheelis, Phillip (Vickie) Wheelis, and Jeffery (Sheila) 
Wheelis. Eight grandchildren: Jonathan (Kristina), Christopher, Phyllis Lynn, 
Evan, Alley Claire, Rebecca, Sara Beth, and Ethan Wheelis. One sister: Thelma 
(Terry) Massey and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Wheelis, Evan Wheelis, Ethan Wheelis, Christopher 
Wheelis, Greg Massey, and Charles Salsbury.

Honorary pallbearers are Fred Young, Tim Parnell, Bobby Rawls, Roy McGrew, and 
Jim Richardson.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 8, 2015 at 
Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA.

Memorials may be sent to the Walnut Grove Cemetery Fund, Grace United Methodist 
Church of Ruston, or to the Methodist Children's Home of Ruston LA. The family 
would like to thank the staff of Alpine Nursing Home of Ruston for all of their 
care and assistance.
