She was born October 15, 1919, in the village of Reimers, LA, to James Claude Tucker and Minnie Lou Pittman Tucker. Meta spent most of her life in the Hammond, LA area, moving to Monroe in 1999. She retired from Sears after a long career in retail. Meta was a member of Woodland Park Baptist Church in Hammond and Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe. She was a devoted "Maw Maw" and friend to many. She loved to cook and share with others. We'll never forget her fruit cake cookies and chicken and dumplings. She lived her life to the fullest for 93 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Carl White; one brother, Claude Tucker; one sister, Mina Lambert, and one half-brother, Angus Ray Tucker. Meta is survived by her daughter, Margaret Ann White Price and husband, Ben; son, James Richard White; grandchildren, Christopher White Price, Patrick Hill Price, Wendy Ann White Gough and husband, Matt; great grandchildren, Matt and Molly Gough; sister, Dorothy Lou Connor; and half-brother, Leroy Tucker; beloved sister-in-law, Violet Folks; and numerous nieces and nephews including Linda Lambert Tarzetti and husband, Gene, James David White and wife, Pam; and Barbara White Price. Her life was best reflected through the song, "Amazing Grace." It was "Grace" that supported her through 93 years of joy and peace. There were always times of "toils and snares" along the way but God was there to provide a shining light. A private family burial service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012. A celebration of her life for family and friends will be held at Brandon Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Highway 190, Hammond, LA, 70403 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff at St. Francis Medical Center, Dr. Prem, and Dr. Greer for their care and kindness. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkview Baptist Church, 1001 Forsythe Avenue, Monroe, LA 71201 or the charity of your choice.
