Visitation with the family will be Sunday, May 3, 2009 from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM at Cox Funeral Home in Bastrop, LA. Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 AM. Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Oak Ridge Episcopal Cemetery with Reverends Ramon Warren and Sam Emanuel officiating. Mrs. White was born June 6, 1923 to George Donald and Lurline Hopkins Bacon of Mer Rouge, LA. She graduated from Mer Rouge High School, attended Brenau College in Gainsville, GA and graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with a Bachelor of Music degree. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Mrs. White married her late husband Warren Shelby White, Jr. on October 17, 1947. They lived their entire married life of 58 years in Mer Rouge, LA. "Miss June" as she was affectionately known, was a member of Mer Rouge Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Mrs White was a devoted mother of four. She is survived by her three daughters Jo Lynn Stampley of Monroe, LA, Becky Williams of Nashville, TN., Donna McAdams and her husband, Johnny of Mer Rouge; one son, W. Shelby White III and his wife, Sandy of Lafayette, LA.; seven grandchildren John Nelson McAdams and his wife, Karen, Sarah Beth McAdams, Hilary Williams, Holly Williams, Anna White, Rachel White and Adam White; one great-grandchild, Ian Michael McAdams; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Warren Shelby White, Jr.; sisters, Elaine Bacon Brodnax and Donna Bacon Rodgers; brother, George Donald Bacon, Jr. and a grandson, William Warren Wallace. Serving as pallbearers will be Dixon Abell, Dickie Blackwell, Win Brandon, Bob Erle Clark, William Hayden, Michael McAdams, Dr. Allen Spires, and Gil White. Honorary pallbearers are Elton Kennedy, Virgil McKoin, Bill Morrow, and John Spires. The family would like to especially thank the entire staff at Oak Woods for their tireless care and support of "Miss June".
