Tuesday, October 14, 2008 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Roger Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Lillie, LA. Mrs. White was born September 22, 1921 in Longstreet, LA and passed away October 10, 2008 in Irving, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. James B. White, whom she helped and supported during his 23 year ministry at Trinity Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA. After the retirement of her husband from the full-time ministry, they moved to Farmerville, LA where they were members of the First Baptist Church of Farmerville. Lille Rae was energetic and outgoing and never met a stranger. A compassionate lady and good Christian woman, she had a deep love and affection for her church, her family and her many friends. She was valedictorian of her high school class and attended Louisiana College, New Orleans Seminary and Northeast Louisiana State College. In addition to being a wife and mother, she was employed in a variety of positions: working in a real estate company in New Orleans, church secretary in West Monroe and finally starting The Lily Pad, the first consignment store in Monroe, which she worked in with her son Larry for many years. Her passion, besides church, was gardening. She loved flowers and was a member of the Farmerville Garden Club. Although she spent the last year of her life in Texas, she was quick to tell people "I may live in Texas but I'm from Louisiana!" She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and George Massingale of Plano, TX., son, James Larry White of Monroe, LA, four grand children and five great-grandchildren, two brothers, Fay Stiles of Logansport, LA., Roy Stiles of Campti, LA. and sister, Jean Barfield of Hurst, TX. Pallbearers will be Ron Barfield, Shorty Aulds, Charles Causey, Ray Moore and T.L. Rhymes. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Monday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA . A devoted wife, mother and friend, she will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched.
