PAULINE WHITE

Pauline "Polly" White, 83, of Dubuque, IA, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 
surrounded by her family. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, May 12, at St. 
Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Dubuque. Burial will be in Mount Olivet 
Cemetery, Key West, IA. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, 
May 11, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 
3860 Asbury Rd., Dubuque. Polly was the third of four children born to Bill 
and Pauline Riley in Monroe, LA on March 21, 1934. She attended Maryville 
College in St. Louis, MO and LSU in Baton Rouge, LA where she was a member 
of Chi Omega Sorority. She married Jim White in 1959, and settled in 
Dubuque, Iowa. Polly never forgot her friends down south, and she cherished 
her southern roots.

Polly enjoyed socializing and traveling. Often she would reminisce of 
listening to Pete Fountain while sharing a bottle of wine in the jazz clubs 
of New Orleans. After her husband's retirement, they traveled the world. 
Polly was a loving wife, mother of four, and grandmother of 12. Her home was 
always warm and inviting. Polly was a very devout Catholic. Survivors 
include her husband, Jim White; her children, Jim Jr. (Connie), Pauline 
(Pat) Carr, Greg (Tammy), and Catherine (Jim) Mandler; her grandchildren, 
Kate, Robert (Lauren), Scott, Ben (Kaitlin), Max, Jake (Mary), Will, Nick, 
Judd, Caroline, Abbie, and Allison; her brother, Pat (Judy) Riley; and her 
many nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.In 
lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Dubuque, 1670 JFK Rd., 
Dubuque, IA, 52002, or Opening Doors, 2100 Asbury Rd. Ste 8, Dubuque, IA
