WHITE Funeral services for Claudia N. White, 90, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 14, 2017, in Feazel Chapel at First Baptist Church of West Monroe with Dr. Mark Fenn and Dr. Dwight Munn officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 14, 2017, until service at Feazel Chapel at First Baptist Church of West Monroe. Private family graveside services were held in Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, Claudia Lois Nugent White was born in Alexandria, LA on January 19, 1927 and passed away on July 12, 2017, in West Monroe, LA at Glenwood hospital after a stroke. Claudia was the youngest child of W.N. and Lorena Nugent. She was an alumnus of Northeast Louisiana State College and Louisiana Tech University where she received a Master's degree in Education. Claudia taught elementary students in West Monroe for over 40 years and trained many student teachers. After retirement, she worked 20 more years at First Baptist Church of West Monroe where she has been a member for over 80 years. Within these 80 years, Claudia sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, greeted visitors in person and over the phone, served as an intercessor and volunteered in many other capacities. Her service to her church and community is a wonderful reflection of her heart for Jesus Christ, her Savior. Family, friends, and even strangers were drawn to Claudia's vivacious, welcoming spirit. Her adoration for her family was unmistakable. Her family treasures the memory of her affirming words and generous supply of their favorite foods. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dessie Martin and Doris Hearn; her son, Dr. Carl Kenneth "Ken" White, III; and her granddaughter, Leigh Ann White. She is survived by her faithful husband of 69 years, Carl K. White, Jr.; her son, Dr. David Alan White and wife Jennifer; her daughter-in-law, Janet Langston White; her granddaughters, Lindsey Morrow (Lee), Katherine Webb (Billie), Deanna White; grandson, Lance White (Chelse), five great- grandchildren and six nieces and nephews. Pallbearers include Lance White, Lee Morrow, Billie Webb, Jay Bankston, A.J. Burns and Scooter Howard. Memorials may be made in Claudia's memory to First Baptist Church of West Monroe, Northeast Louisiana Baptist Children's Home or to the donor's choice.
