WHITEHEAD Mr. Clifford D. Whitehead, age 87 of Winnfield, Louisiana passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016. Born Wednesday, June 26, 1929 in Dry Prong, Louisiana, he was preceded in death by his parents, John Norris Whitehead and Celenia Elizabeth Arrington Whitehead; wife, Jennie Berry Whitehead; son, Philip Whitehead; in-laws, Clyde and Eva Berry; brothers, John, Edwin, Raymond, and Luther Whitehead; half-sister, Lucille Dryer; brothers-in-law, Lamar and Huey Berry; sisters- in-law, Jackie Whitehead and Faye Bell; nephews, Vicky, Don, Doug, and Johnny Whitehead; nieces, Bridget Whitehead and Debbie Berry LaCroix; and daughter-in-law, Charlene DePew Whitehead. Mr. Whitehead was a member of First Baptist Church of Winnfield. He was retired from Louisiana DOTD and Manville, Inc. Mr. Whitehead was a Sgt. 1st Class, U.S. Army Veteran. He was initiated in Eastern Star Lodge No. 151 F&AM October 27, 1958, passed to the degree of Fellowcraft April 13, 1959 and was raised to the Sublime degree of Master Mason in the Sulphur Lodge No. 424 on August 27, 1962. During his Masonic career he was a member of Eastern Star Lodge No. 151, Sulphur Lodge No. 424, Anchor Lodge No. 261, Charles F. Buck Lodge No. 260, Charter Member of O.K. Allen Lodge No. 33, and Rosemary Lodge No. 278. He served in various capacities including Worshipful Master and Chaplin (1997- 1999. 2004-2014) of Easter Star Lodge No. 151, Chaplin of Calvin Lodge No. 431 (2014), Chaplin of O.K. Allen Lodge No. 33 (2011), Treasurer of Rosemary Lodge No. 278 (2007-2008), Grandmasters Homecoming Committee (1991-1994), Grand Lodge Session Arrangement Committee (1992-1993), District Grand Lecturer (1985-2010), Grand Senior Deacon (2010), Grand Representative (2009-2015). Mr. Whitehead was a Masonic Proficiency Level III Cardholder (1978-present). He received the Spirit of Hiram Award in 2016 and was a long time cast member of the Masonic Play, Rose on the Altar. Mr. Whitehead was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Palestine Chapter #55 in Winnfield where he served as Worthy Patron for 21 years. He served as Grand Sentinel for the Grand Chapter of O.E.S. State of Louisiana in 1994. Mr. Whitehead was made a 32nd Degree Mason in 1967 in Valley of Monroe, Orient of Louisiana, A.A.S.R. He was invested with the K.C.C.H. in 1981 and coroneted a 33rd Degree Mason in 1993. Mr. Whitehead was a member of the York Rite Bodies, Winnfield Chapter No. 59 R.A.M., Winnfield Council No. 53 C.M., and Bethlehem Commandary No. 20. He was a member of Red Cross of Constantine, Ouachita Conclave. Mr. Whitehead was a past president and Charter Member of Dugdemona High Twelve Chapter No. 711. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Amy Whitehead Ford and husband Tim, Jr., West Monroe, LA; sons, Alan Whitehead and wife Virginia and Karl Whitehead and wife Cheryl, both of Winnfield, LA; grandchildren, Jason Ford, Andy Sanders, April Campbell and husband Terry, Trey Ford, Geannie Savell and husband Bryan, Brett Whitehead, Robin Whitehead and wife Courtney, Tristan Whitehead, Stephanie Rushing and husband Chris, Josh Whitehead and wife Jennifer, and Brion Whitehead and wife Amy; great grandchildren, Aden and Trinity Ford, Abbigail Wallace, Aubrey and Mckenzie Campbell, Anna, Levi, and Henley Savell, Elijah Brandon, Cooper and Kinleigh Harvey, Karley Whitehead, C.J., Carter, and Charlie Mae Rushing, and Peyton and Camden Whitehead; fourth son, Jamie Maxwell; in- laws, Dorothy Whitehead, Bentley, LA, Jim and Margaret Berry, Natchitoches, LA, Bill and Mary Berry, Jeane Berry and Thelma Berry, all of Winnfield, LA. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at the Masonic Temple, 106 N. Bevill St, Winnfield from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 9:00 AM until time of services. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Masonic Temple with Dr. Calvin Phelps officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Greg Davies, Teddy Ray Price, Charles Carroll, Woody D. Bilyeu, Lloyd Hennigan, Jamie Maxwell. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Harlan and the members of Eastern Star Lodge #151. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations please be made to a charity of the donor's choice .
