KATHLEEN ROLLEIGH WHITFIELD 

Murphy's Funeral Home, Falls Church, VA 

Kathleen Rolleigh Whitfield, 89, of Falls Church, VA, died on February 18, 
2010. She was born on February 10, 1921 in Monroe, LA. A graduate of LSU, she 
taught French, English, and Spanish languages in Northern Louisiana and 
Fairfax County, VA for over 25 years. She is preceded in death by her husband 
of 62 years, Col Joe Mangham Whitfield (USAF ret.) and daughter Anne 
Whitfield. The Whitfield family lived and traveled abroad extensively. She 
leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Kathy W. Pratt, Susan W. 
McCabe and her husband, Curtis, (LTC, USA ret.); sons, Joe M. Jr., Louis W., 
and Wesley T. Whitfield and his wife Roxana; and two granddaughters, Wendy 
Anne Pratt and Megan Kathleen McCabe; as well as many nieces and nephews. A 
mass in celebration of Kathleen's life was held February 23, 2010 at St. James 
Catholic Church, Falls Church, VA. Burial will be held at Arlington National 
Cemetery on March 10 at 2:00 pm.
