WHITMAN Funeral Services for Mr. James C. "Jimmy" Whitman, 79, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Bawcomville Church of Christ in West Monroe, LA with Bro. Bill Schooley officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens Cemetery at West Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. Mr. Whitman was born October 17, 1936 and passed away October 4, 2016. He was a loving husband and loved taking care of his grandchildren and feeding his pets. He also loved computers and fishing. Mr. Whitman was a member of Bawcomville Church of Christ and he loved his church family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Les and Francis Whitman; grandson, Dusty Varner; great grandson, Dusty Varner Jr.; son-in-law, Herman Bonnett, Sr.; and brothers-in-law, Jack Douglas and Benny H. Weaver. Survivors include his loving wife of 50½ years, Ellen Whitman; children, Rhonda Martin and husband Kenneth; Wanda Bonnett, Cliff Whitman and wife Angela, and Charles Whitman; special "daughter", Kaylee Culpepper; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchild, Ellery; sisters, Edna Ruth Douglas and Ruby E. Weaver; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Herman Lee Bonnett, Jr., Jarrod Schooley, Neal Schooley, Travis Arrant, John Coston and Jim Hendrix. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, October 7, 2016 at Bawcomville Church of Christ, West Monroe, LA. Mr. Whitman's family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Zabari and the SICU staff at Willis Knighton in Shreveport and Dr. V and Willis Knighton Cancer Institute and staff. And also, thank you everyone for the prayers, calls, food, and love that was shown to Jimmy.
