Ms. Wilder was a retired cafeteria manager at Ouachita Parish Junior High School for many years. She was born August 16, 1922 in Smith County Mississippi; one of eight children of Robert (Bob) Laird and Nellie Evelyn Laird. Funeral services for Nellie Wilder will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe with Reverend William Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park. Nellie married Charles (Chuck) J. Wilder (deceased), a career soldier in the U. S. Air Force, who attained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Chuck served his country in World War II and Korea. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Nellie loved all animals and plants. She was a Master Gardener and very proficient at nursing wounded or sick animals back to health. To all nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, she was a source of inspiration for her loving and caring concern for them all. She kept detailed lists of all anniversaries, birthdays, etc. and sent cards on every occasion. One of her nephews referred to her as Saint Nellie Merle. She is survived by a brother, Connie Laird of West Monroe and a sister, Irene Johnston and husband Billy of Slidell, LA. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 29 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe.
