WILKEY John W. Wilkey received his angel wings on November 5, 2016 in Conroe, Texas surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old. John worked 34 years for General Motors- Inland Fisher Guide Division as the Superintendent of Manufacturing and Quality Control of the Head Lamp Division. John was born on June 15th 1939 to Louise and Loren Wilkey in Benton Harbor Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and Loren and his sister, Janet. Survivors include: his wife, Susie of 56 years, daughters, Emily and her husband Mark (The Woodlands,TX), grandchildren, Tyler Wauters and wife Whitney, great grandchildren, Avery and Brooks, Whitney Britt and husband Adam, great grandchildren, Raeleigh and Scarlett, Jennifer Kembel (Shawnee, KS ), and grandchildren, Logan and Tate, and Melissa Wroten and her husband Evans (Winston-Salem, NC), niece, Kim Overmyer and husband Todd (McCordsville, IN.), and nephew, Mike Raley (Savannah, GA). He served 4 years in the United States Air Force before receiving his Bachelor's degree in Biology and Business from Indiana State University. John and Susie met and were married in Sullivan, Indiana and later moved to Anderson, Indiana where they were raising their daughters. His career with Guide took him and his family to Monroe, Louisiana where they lived for the next 24 years. They were blessed with a traveling retirement starting in Simpsonville, SC, to Tucson AZ, to Venice, FL and finally to Conroe, TX to be closer to family. While living in Monroe, John was an active member of St Paul's United Methodist Church and The Rotary Club. Daddy enjoyed fishing, nature hikes in the Catalina mountains, looking for shark teeth at the beach, and lately watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and American Pickers. In honor of John's request, he will be cremated and a celebration of life with family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to First Presbyterian Church P.O. Box 533 Sullivan, IN 47882 (his original home church where John and Susie began their life together).
