Ms. Williams was born on February 3, 1946 in Monroe, LA and passed away at home on January 10, 2014. She was among the first students at the School for Cerebral Palsy at Selman Field, Monroe, LA. Darlene was a happy person, loved company, her outings, food, coffee and gospel music. Survivors: Many cousins, friends, and her trustee, Joyce Taylor and husband, John who all loved her. A special thanks to D&D Community Connection and for all of her caregivers these years after the death of her mother. In particular, Bobbie Woodward and Lashonya Wesley who took care of her for the past three years until the end. The family expresses their appreciation for Drs. Jain and Coburn, Ryan and all the nursing staff at St. Francis Medical Center. Darlene was preceded in death by her mother and dad, Polly and Ira Williams; grandmother, Louise Crider Johnson and husband, Luther; grandfather, Charlie King; and grandparents, Ida and Coleman Williams. Graveside funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Warren Eckhart officiating; under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. until service time. We know Darlene is now reunited with her family and able to walk and run on the heaven's golden streets. Memorials may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
