Mittie Hestella Walters was born in Calhoun, Louisiana; the fourth of eight children born to Connie Edward and Ida Ruth Walters. She left this earth on June 26, 2014 at Ridgecrest Community Care Center in West Monroe, Louisiana surrounded by family and friends. The hosanna sang on most high as those who loved her began to celebrate her home going. Services celebrating this remarkable woman's life will begin with visitation at 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. Funeral Services will begin Sunday, June 29, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Calhoun, LA with graveside to follow at Beulah Cemetery, Calhoun, Louisiana. Pastors Neil Everitt, J.E. Brown, and Randy Ray will officiate. Mittie married Thomas Junior Williams on March 3, 1943 and began a long life together raising their children in a loving Christian home. They moved to Sterlington in the 1950's and became active in their community and church. Mrs. Williams was a member of Sterlington First Baptist Church for nearly sixty years and served in many capacities in her Sunday school classes and delighted as a member of the senior adult choir. Her life was a witness to the love and grace promised to those that have faith in the Lord. Mittie was a proud alumni of Calhoun High School, Class of 1941. She was a past member of The Eastern Star. She served as a booster club member for Sterlington High School athletics and band during her children's nearly thirty years in the Sterlington schools. Mittie was preceded in death by her son Jimmy Glen Williams; husband, Thomas J. Williams; and grandson, Tad Edward Williams. Survivors include: Daughter; Janice (Joe Fox) Farmerville, Louisiana.Four sons; Tommy (Guylene Nolan) Calhoun, Louisiana; Lonnie(Martha Puckett) Conway, Arkansas; Johnny (Cindy Dew), West Monroe, Louisiana; Ladd( Brian Daves), Madison, Mississippi. And her special friends who are considered family George and Barbara Antley, Eros, Louisiana. Sisters; Elizabeth "Babe" Felize, Annette Coker; Brother, Ray Walters (Joanne). Sister in law; Jettie, all of Calhoun, Louisiana. Her legacy includes eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Gregg Williams, Jim Williams, Matthew Williams, Chris McCool, Scott Bundrick, Trey Long, Lance Hendrix, Al Brazzel, and Scott Winstead. The family wishes to recognize and thank the following: Matilda Stephens- FNP, Kitty Miller, Donna Day, the staff of Glenwood Regional Medical Center, the staff of Ridgecrest Community Care Center (especially her favorite Shemika "little bit" Williams).
