Deacon Lewis Joseph Williams entered this life on August 8, 1943, to the late Victoria and Willie Williams. Lewis accepted Jesus as his savior and was baptized at an early age at Ludden Chapel Baptist Church, where he remained a faithful deacon until the decline of his health. He received his primary and secondary education in Monroe, Louisiana and graduated from Little Flower Academy in 1961. Lewis proudly served his country for 4 years as a member of the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he embarked upon and completed a 35 year career with Graphic Packaging, retiring in 2004. Fifty years ago he met and later married a woman he referred to as the "love of his life", Margie Gunn. From that day forward, those two were inseparable. They were "two peas in a pod", when you saw one you always knew the other wasn't too many steps behind. To this union one daughter, Mieko, was born. Lewis was a devout Christian and a pillar of strength for his family. This prayer warrior and patriarch was known for his meek and humble spirit. He truly has left a legacy of faith for his family and the wisdom of knowing who God is and what he is capable of doing. On Wednesday evening, October15, 2014, spending his last moments with his love, God called him home, healed him and gave him his eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memories, his "Honey", Margie Gunn Williams, his loving wife of over 47 years who cared for him diligently and remained by his side until he took his last breath. Special memories will be shared by the jewels of his heart, one daughter, Mieko ReShindia Smith, Forney, TX; and five grandchildren, Mar'Jaye (Jaybird), Jaylan, Kayla (Kayla Mae), Amorie' (Missy), and Jakari (Lil Man), all of Forney, TX; He also leaves one sister, Willie Marie Hamilton (John), Memphis, TN. One brother preceded him in death, Eddie Williams, Sr. He leaves one brother-in-law, Hardy Gunn, Jr. (Angela), Monroe, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. We didn't want to give you up We'll miss that smile on your face, But comforted are we by this thought In Heaven you will take your place. We didn't want to give you up Your passing though does make us sad, But still we're consoled with this thought, In Heaven you will be glad. We didn't want to give you up Yet we know you're gone to rest. So comforted are we by this thought, To be in Heaven is the best!
