WILLIAMS Private services have been held for Samuel Otto Williams, Jr., who passed away on April 14, 2015. He was born on December 11, 1929 to Samuel Otto Williams, Sr. and Thelma Kirby Williams in Monroe, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sherry Sims Williams and his parents. In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be placed beside his beloved wife Sherry @ Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery, Monroe, Louisiana. Survivors include two daughters and their husbands: Wendy and Jeffrey Carbo of Alexandria, Louisiana; Samantha and Procter McInnis of Destin, Florida; three grandsons, William Carbo, Lawson McInnis, and Sterrett McInnis; one sister, Martha Coleman and husband Robert S. Coleman; two nieces, Katherine Jones and Marianna Coleman; one nephew, Robert Coleman, Jr. Mr. Williams graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1946 and later attended Louisiana State University, where he earned BA and Master's degrees. During his lifetime, he held memberships in Louisiana Principal's Association, Kiwanis International, Phi Delta Theta Honorary Fraternity, and Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he was awarded The Commendation Ribbon with Medal Pendant, the Korean Service Medal, the U.N. Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. An avid hunter and fisherman, his fondest memories were trips to his hill farms fishing with his young daughters on the ponds, and later with his loving grandsons. He wished to be remembered as a loyal son, husband and father who loved his family. It was his request that any memorials be sent to the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home, P. O. Box 929, Ruston, Louisiana 71273 or to Our Lady of Prompt Succor School, 420 21st Street, Alexandria, Louisiana 71301.
