He was born November 30, 1922 in Monroe, Louisiana, to parents Charles Wesley Williams Sr. and Nettie Gene Rogers Williams. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Charles was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church of Dickinson, Texas. He served on the Vestry, and was an active and devoted member for sixteen years. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Edith "Edie" W. Hughes Williams; son, C. Ford Williams and wife Kelly, and their children Charles and James Williams; stepdaughter, Anne Hughes Shepard and husband Tom, and their children, Matthew White and wife, Amanda Morrow, Elizabeth White and fiancé Brian Stamile, Kristin Shanahan and husband Tim; stepson, Dr. Thomas K. "Kley" Hughes Jr. and wife Margie; sisters, Julia Hand and Nettie Gene Hewett and loving nieces and nephews; special thanks to Beth and Guy Cook for their loving care and presence; to golfing buddies Tommy Watkins and Col. Tom Sledge for their steadfast friendship; to all his friends at Holy Trinity. No kinder or compassionate care could have been asked for from Charlie's physicians: Dr. Edward L. Louis and his staff, Dixie and Jackie, and Dr. Susan Andrew. Edie offers her special appreciation and love to Judy Broman, Helene Stein, Bruce Rook, and Betty Lou Pulliam for many years of friendship; and to Brooksie and Charlie Hamaker, and Norma and Bill Brandle, Charlie's long time friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Dickinson, Texas with the Reverend Doug Tucker officiating. Graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Monroe, LA on Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 3:00 p.m.. The Reverend Whit Stodghill will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
