WILSON, SR. Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral Services for Mr. Billy E. Wilson, Sr., 77, of West Monroe, LA will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 9, 2009, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, with Rev. Joe Solomon and Alan Robertson officiating. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun. Mr. Wilson was born September 14, 1931 in Porter, AL and passed away on February 6, 2009 at Northern Louisiana Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was member of Walker's Chapel Baptist Church. He retired from State Farm Insurance as operations superintendant after 37 1/2 years of service. He held many insurance designations including CLU and CPCU. He was a dedicated blood donor and had several pens of distinction. He tirelessly gave of his time and collected for the American Cancer Society, Heart Association, Salvation Army, and United Way. He was a past president of the Lions Club of Fultondale, AL. Bill never passed a friend or a stranger in need and often assisted stranded motorists, the hungry, and the needy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Annie Wilson; brother, Chuck Wilson; and sister, Carol Norris. He is survived by his loving wife and loyal caregiver, Helen E. Wilson. They would have been married 58 years on February 18, 2009. Other survivors include daughter, Diane Cottingham and her husband Rusty; son, Bill Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Carol; grandchildren, Kelly Byran, Kris Cottingham, Whitnee Spradlin and her husband Eric, Logan Wilson, Kristin Payton and her husband Rod, and Ashley Knight; great-grandchildren, Colby Hunter, Eli, Conner, and Brooks; sisters, Sue Reeves and her husband Robert, Linda Adams and her husband Michael; sisters-in-law, Shirley Reeves and husband Albert, Jo Evans, Nadine Frederick and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kris Cottingham and Logan Wilson; nephews, Randall Frederick, Kenneth Frederick, Mike Evans and Jeff Headley. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Matthews and Colby Wallace. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday, February 8, 2009 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Memorials may be made to Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund, Salvation Army, or American Cancer Society.
