DORIS EVELYN AVANT WIMBERLEY

West Monroe, LA

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Evelyn Avant Wimberley, 88, of West Monroe, 
will be held at 3:00 P.M, Sunday, October 12, 2008, at New Chapel Hill Baptist 
Church in West Monroe. Rev. Charles Dupree, Jr. and Rev. Earl Williams will be 
officiating.

Interment will follow at New Chapel Hill Cemetery in West Monroe under the 
direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.

Mrs. Wimberley was born May 28, 1920 in Floral, AR and passed away October 8, 
2008, in West Monroe, LA. Mrs. Wimberley was an expert seamstress and co-owner 
of Wimberley Air Conditioning. She was a stay-at-home mother and was a 
caregiver for her parents. As a long time member of New Chapel Hill Baptist 
Church, she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She 
also was a 4-H Leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; Virdia Wimberley, father 
Charles Alexander Avant, mother Mattie Lee Aulds Avant, sister Ina Florine 
Wimberley, and brother Milton Lester Avant.

Mrs. Wimberley is survived by her sons Dr. Ronald C. Wimberley and wife Sandra 
of Raleigh, NC and Dr. Dale W. Wimberley and wife Cynthia of Blacksburg,VA; 
daughters Ilene Wimberley Snyder and husband Gregory of Oak Park, IL and Betty 
Gaye Wimberley Sullivan and husband Glenn of West Monroe, LA. Her grand 
children are Rachel S. Peak and husband Bart, Christopher Wimberley, Coleman 
Sullivan and wife Catherine, Lee Johannah Snyder, Caroline Amelda Snyder, Eric 
Wimberley, and Cara Wimberley; great grandchildren are Austin Peak and Jackson 
Peak; special niece Virginia Lee Wimberley Walker; dear friend; Tracy 
Yelverton; and devoted cat Molly.

Pallbearers will be Roy Avant, Shelby Walker, Christopher Wimberley, Coleman 
Sullivan, Eric Wimberley, and Bart Peak.

Honorary Pallbearers will be deacons of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

The Family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Ridgecrest 
Nursing Home.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 
P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe and Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 
2:00 P.M. until service time at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
