He was born to Neil Dosson Womble, Sr., and Mary Agnes Condon Womble on February 13, 1936, in Winnsboro. He graduated from Winnsboro High School and Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge, with a degree in Architectural Engineering. Except for a brief period in Baton Rouge after graduating from LSU, he practiced architecture in Winnsboro where he made his home. He was a member of Gilbert United Methodist Church. Mr. Womble was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Neil "Buddy" Womble, his children's mother, Marilou Lipp Dennis, and his best friend and brother-in-law, C.B. "Buddy" Diboll, Jr. Left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife, Cheryl Womble; his sister, Myrtle Buie "Boo" Gilbert, Montrose, CO; his children, Leslie Fran Womble, Dallas; Leah Womble (Joe), Tulsa; John Adam Womble (Jennifer), Metairie; his step-children, Keith Welch (Cindy), Delhi; Cheryl Tarver (Jimmy), Tahlequah, OK; 15 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 30, at 10 a.m. at Gill First National Funeral Home with the Reverend Frances Guy of Gilbert UMC officiating. Burial will follow at Ward Bend Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 29, from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers are his nephew, Mike Womble, Mike Tucker, Larry Rogers, Jimmy Price, Paul Price, Jr., and Gene Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Guice, Abe Credit, Ron Larriviere, Billy Ray Boutwell, and Don Southern.
