WOOLSEY Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert Lee Woolsey, Sr. will be held at 2:00 PM on December 11, 2014 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Bro. Don Banks will officiate. Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery West Monroe. Robert Lee Woolsey, Sr. was born April 17, 1934 and after a long illness, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 8th. He was preceded in death by his great grandson, Casey Lynn Chappell, by his parents, Raymond Woolsey, Sr. and Berter May Cook, three brothers, Cody Woolsey, Harold Ray Woolsey, and Raymond Woolsey, Jr., and one sister, Lena Burke. Robert Woolsey, Sr. served his country during the Korean Conflict Era; he served in the U.S. Marines from 1951-1954 and in the U. S. Air Force from 1954- 1955. He was a Purple Heart Recipient and lived the slogan "Once a Marine, Always a Marine." He retired from Holsum Bakery and spent his retirement years playing his guitars, hunting, following his beloved West Monroe Rebels, and enjoying his grandkids and great-grandkids. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 60 years, Bobbie Lea Smith Woolsey and five children: Darla Cash and husband Dale, Carolyn Jackson and husband David, Marion Chappell and husband Keith, Barbara Jeselink and husband Stephen, and Robert Lee Woolsey, Jr., seven grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. Additionally, Robert is survived by four siblings; Roger Woolsey, Dorothy Woolsey Thomas, Helen Woolsey Dennis and William (Bill) Woolsey. In addition to our extended family and friends, we would like to thank Dr. Ronald Koepke and staff at the Heart Clinic in West Monroe, Dr. Benjamin Weinberger and staff at Oncology Associates in Monroe, and the entire Gamble Hospice organization for providing our dad the best care during a most trying time. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren; Randy Alan Haney, Michael Chappell, Laurie Auttonberry, Christopher Chappell, Stephen Jeselink II, Jarod Jeselink, and Jennifer Jackson. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
