ELIZABETH JOHNSTON WRIGHT

Elizabeth Johnston Wright, 102, of St. Petersburg, died peacefully, surrounded 
by her family, and entered into eternal life on Monday, July 23, 2012.

Born in Monroe, Louisiana, she and her husband, Claude Bernard Wright, M.D. 
moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1932 when he became the first City Physician. 
She graduated from Sophie Newcomb College, Tulane University, and she was 
always very active in her community and church. Betty was a devoted Christian, 
beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. A friend to many, she will 
be greatly missed. Betty had many family members and friends in Monroe who 
will treasure her recent visit last month.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, John Bishop Johnston 
and Julia Elizabeth Johnston (nee Barns) and her brother John Bishop Johnston, 
Jr.

She is survived by her children Donald Wright (Barbara) and Nancy Wright 
Thomas (Thomas), grandchildren Cathy, Bill, Lacey and Clay; great 
grandchildren Cathy Ann, Elizabeth, Will, and Christopher as well as her 
sister-in-law Mary Ann Dixon Johnston, and nieces and nephews, Jo Libby 
Johnston, J. Bishop Johnston, III, J. Dixon Johnston, Ann Johnston Currie, and 
Nina Johnston Pate.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 4th, at The Cathedral 
Church of St. Peter in St. Petersburg, FL and internment will take place at 
Riverview Cemetery in Monroe, Louisiana.
