Jimmy Goodman and Rev. Stan Wyant Officiating. Interment will follow in Holum Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening, November 16, 2008 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Marjorie a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and family matriarch passed away November 14 at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe. Mrs. Wyant was happily married for 54 years to James Earl Wyant, who passed away earlier this year. Marjorie was born May 22, 1936 in Columbia, LA to Marjorie Day (Crooks) and Marshall "Dick" Day. Marjorie is survived by her mother, Marjorie Day Crooks of Columbia, three children, sons Dr. Chapman Lee Wyant and wife Diane of Little Rock, AR, Dr. Glen Ray Wyant and wife Dr. Mary Wyant of Colleyville, TX, daughter Tracey Lane Wyant of Germantown, MD. Brothers "Dick" Day, Jr. and wife Libby of Shreveport, LA, Tom Day and wife Martha of Lafayette, LA, Sisters JoAnn Thompson and husband Paul Thompson of Columbia, LA and Terri Day. Grandchildren Clay Hudson Wyant and Abby Leigh Wyant of Little Rock, AR, Patricia Purcell and husband Josh Purcell of Dallas, TX, David Winters of Galveston, TX, Rachel Marie Wyant and Rebecca Liza-Michelle Wyant of Colleyville, TX. Great grandson, Christopher Lane Purcell of Dallas, TX. Marjorie was an active member of Holum Baptist Church in Holum, LA. She was active in the adult Sunday school class and served in the Awana children's ministry at the church. She was also a long time member of College Place Baptist Church in Monroe where she served many years teaching the 12 year old Sunday school class as well as singing in the choir. Mrs. Wyant possessed a very strong work ethic and was currently employed by Hawkins-Brunson Tax Service in Columbia. Marjorie was an avid reader and pursued self education with a passion. Though she married before finishing high school she later completed the GED. An advocate for learning and education she was particularly proud that her three children all graduated from college and obtained advanced degrees. She worked many years ensuring that her daughter Tracey, who was deaf, obtained an education in the public schools. The family expresses heartfelt thanks to all relatives and friends who prayed for, supported and visited Mrs. Wyant during her hospital stay.
