WYNN O.G. Wynn, Jr. was born on June 12, 1918, in Prescott, Arkansas and passed to be in the presence of Jesus on June 30, 2012 at the age of 94 at Carpenter House in Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lillian, and was a resident of Baton Rouge after her passing. O.G. served his country in the 17th Airborne Division, the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army, earning campaign stars for the Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe and the Spearhead for Airborne Rhine Crossing, having crossed the Rhine River in a glider as part of Operation Varsity. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery under direct fire from the enemies of our freedom. He was discharged from the Army as a Sergeant Major in the 101st Airborne Division. He recorded his was experiences in a book, A Soldier of the Post. During his professional life he worked in the construction industry and also as a draftsman, working for the Peck Lumber Company in Sicily Island, Louisiana, and Jordan, Kaiser, and Sessions Civil Engineers in Natchez, Mississippi. Numerous buildings and other construction projects throughout Louisiana and Mississippi mark his achievements. O.G. is survived by his son, James Howard Wynn, Sr. and his wife Gloria, a grandson, James Howard Wynn, Jr. and his wife Brandi, two great-grandchildren, Landen and Nadia Wynn, and two step great-grandchildren, Destinee' and Kameron Arnold, all of Baton Rouge. Funeral services will be held under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home at Blackwater United Methodist Church on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 10am, conducted by Reverend Linda Hagan. Graveside services will be held at the Old Jena Cemetery in Jena, Louisiana on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at 10:00 AM, conducted by Reverend Kenneth Hoots.
