ZIMMEREBNER Funeral services for Mr. William "Bill" Ernest Zimmerebner Jr. of Downsville, LA will be 1pm Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Griffin Funeral Home in West Monroe with Dr. Keith McVay officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be Monday, January 16, 2017, from 5pm until 9pm at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in West Monroe. Mr. Bill was born June 19, 1936 in North Little, AR and passed from this life on January 13, 2017 in West Monroe at the age of 80. He was instrumental in design and construction of Pippen Meadows, Calvert Crossing and Frenchman's Bend Golf Courses as well as head golf professional at Calvert and F.B. Bill was head PGA Pro at Morehouse C.C. in Bastrop for 15 years. Designed and built Caldwell C.C. 9-hole course as well as PGA Pro for 4 years. Also, golf professional at Duncan Park G.C. in Natchez, MS; Twin Oaks C.C. in Winnsboro, LA; Burns Park G.C. in Little Rock, AR; Old Oak G.C. and Sherwood Forest C.C. in Baton Rouge. Bill began his career in the golf industry as a caddie at age 9 in N. Little Rock at Sylvan Hills C.C. He has given countless golf lessons and made a difference to thousands of golfers in the ArkLaMiss spanning 7 decades. He loved deer hunting and running his hunting dogs. Bill was a loving husband, father, son, brother, friend and mentor to many. He will be greatly missed! He is preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Vera Mae Zimmerebner; loving wife of 51 yrs., Velma; sons, Joey Hudson and Tim Zimmerebner; grandson, McKenzie Hudson; brother, Ted Burton; and three sisters, Jamie Gunter, Wanda Redd and Vickie Stroshahl. Survivors include his son, Jimi Hudson of West Monroe; daughters, Renee Hogg of West Monroe, Billie Zimmerebner of Downsville and Monica Randels and husband Rick of West Monroe; siblings, Wilene Smith of Alto, NM; Judy Moellman of Stover, MO; George Zimmerebner of Denham Springs, LA and Mary Starbuck of Searcy, AR; grandchildren, Liz Stamper, Jennifer Hudson, Desiree Hogg, Mollie Newton, Frazier and Caroline Hudson, Scott Zimmerebner, Myranda Zimmerebner; great grandchildren, Meredith Stamper, Tristan Mann, Brayden McMillan, Laney McMillan; one great great-grandchild, Will Newton; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, as well as many special people considered as family.
