He attended the parish public schools and obtained there from a sufficent education for his life’s battles. At one time Mr. Brophy was owner of one of the largest orange groves in this parish but the freeze of 1895 crippled his good start in life. Besides serving as a school trustee for his ward, he has served two terms as Police Juror from 1888 to 1896.
