Schayot (Health Officer) born in 1869 at Pointe-ala- Hache, son of Charles Schayot, a well known prominent merchant of Plaquemines , and was born in Alsace, (Strasburg) Germany. Dr. Schayot received his early education under his brother and at public schools. He entered Slan...laus College in 1884, but the death of his Mother compelled him to leave without his degree. In 1887 he became a student of Tulane University. He received his first instructions in Latin at the home of his brother and later under a private teacher, His school career occupied a period of 10 years. Being a lover of nature, in 1888 he turned to medicine. He was matriculated at Tulane Medical Department University of Louisiana and took his first course during the session of 1888-89. He entered his second and third year at the same institution. Fro, 1892 - 96, he was the health officer of Plaquemines Parish and served as Coroner for four years thereafter. Since graduation, Pointe-ala-Hache has been his home.
