Maximillion MARTIN was a very wealthy man in ante-bellum days; But 
he died broke, after reading this lawsuit, I thought how appropriate, 
he wanted to take land away from orphans ( PERSONAL OPINION)

Maximillion MARTIN filed suit saying that Jean Pierre BARROIS and 
MARCELINE BARROIS were both dead and as brother-in-law of URANIE 
BARROIS and to take care of his interest in SEC 34 R 14 T 17 
( Uranie - alias LeBouf) asked that attorney named BRADFORD be 
appointed as Uranie's Attorney, As he ( Maximillion) had filed suit 
on Minor Uramie for $300. for work done on land. He had witnesses: 
Alexis MARTIN and Norbert MARTIN to swear that he and V. DENES had 
kept the land clean!! Maximillion asked the Court to force the sale 
of the land to pay his debt. 

His request was DENIED!! However, on 6 May 1848, the land was 
auctioned off and Maximillion MARTIN and V. DENESS bought it for
a mere $163.00 and court cost of $ $38.67, Sheriff's fee $ $31.00 
and $25.50 for attorney for absent Owner.
