POINTE - ALA - HACHE
(How It Got Its Name)

Pointe-ALA-HACHE is a French name. We cannot understand why the citizens 
of our thriving village have retained so long this outlandish name which 
was given by accident to this place about 150 years ago.

Why not call it Ax Point which is the literal translation in English for 
Pointe-a-la-Hache, and it is much shorter if not more euphonious.

We object to both appellations and hope that application will be made to 
the next Legislature for a more appropriate name for our prospered village.
