The first mail route to Plaquemines Parish was on 1 October 1854 
It left New Orleans every Monday at 6 a.m. aboard s stsmer packet, 
arrived at Balize at 6 p.m. and arrived at New Orleans next evening 
at 6p.m.

Post Office were established at the following places:

EAST BANK

English Turn
Pointe-a-la-Hache
Grande Prairie

WEST BANK

Jesuit;s Bend
Robquillo Settlement
Buras Settlement
Balize
