Children were: 1) Romain, age 22; 2) Ferdinanel, age 19; 3) Firman, age 17; and 4) Anaid, age 15. Succession of Jean Baptiste ORILLAC, dated 15 August 1855, deceased husband of Carmlite BURAS. Minor children were: 1) Carmelite Pamela; 2) Suzanne Palvina; 3) Michel Ernestine. Sucession of Felix RAGAS, deceased husband of Virginia HUGNARD, dated 27 July 1874. Minor Children were: 1) Felix; 2) Angeline: and 3) Anna Cornelia. Declaration Of death of Marceline BISTER Pierre COSSE, about 40 years of age and Valery COSSE about 30 years of age, declares that their mother, Marceline BISTER, widow of the late Cyrille COSSE, was dead at her residence in this parish on 28th October 1854; that she was about 54 years of age and that her remains have been buried the same day in the Catholic Cemetery at about five o'clock. Their mother had been married before to Nuna COSSE, also deceased. Minor children were: 1) Azeena; 2) Cyrille; 3) Joseph; 4) Leocadie. Succession of Pierre Jean BURAS and Marie Theresa COLLETTE, dated Nov. 1845 Succession of Cyprien RAGAS, deceased husband of Irene BURAS, who died soon after. All live in this parish, subsequently, Adelaide is dead, leaving children: 1) Catherine, wife of E.O. BURAS; 2) Eliza, wife of Justine BURAS; and 3) Alphonsene, wife of Jean Baptiste COLLETTE. Felix RAGAS died leaving 4 children: 1) Josephine, widow of George MANDOLADES: 2) Angeline, widow of J. L. BURAS; 3) Felix RAGAS, JR. died leaving two children: 1) Cyprien and 2) Lucy, both minors. Their mother is now married to her deceased husband's brother, Antoine Augustine RAGAS and soon therefore died . Succession of Francoise E. DeLERY, dated 26 June 1845. Minor Children were: 1) Odile Victoria; 2) Pauline; 3) Pierre Joseph BELOW IS A DECLARATION OF DEATH And I either did not write down the year or it was not readable, but i incluse it for the information it contains. Daclaration of death of Pierre Hubert BURAS Euphrasine BURAS, widow of said deceased, age about 40 years and Pierre Felix BURAS, age 26, both residents of this parish, declares that Pierre Hubert BURAS, husband of said Euphrasine BURAS, departed this life the 18th day of July at about 11 o'clock in the evening and that he was buried the next day at about sunset, in the graveyard of Hubert BURAS, situated at JOURDAN's Flat in this parish. SUCCESSION OF JOSEPH VEILLON: Petitioned the court on 26 March, 1830 and asked for an inventory of property and to be appointed the natural tutor of her minor children to wit: 1. Marie Claire; 2. Aglae; 3. Josephine; 4. Marceline and 5. Joseph. The property consisted of a plantation in the parish of Plaquemines about 8 leagues below New Orleans on the Right Bank of the Mississippi River, two arpents fronting the river and forty arpents depth, bounded on the upper side by property of Madam Dobard, below by property of Francis LaFrance. On the plantation was a dwelling house, corn house, a kitchen, and anouther little house. The dewelling of the deceased was valued at $1,200. There were seven slaves named.(filed 3 May 1830) SUCCESSION OF EDIV? VINET: Deceased wife of CESRIN DREUF, who petitioned the court and stated he married the deceased in 1804 and that the union produced nine children to wit: 1. Edmond; 2. Edward; 3. Severns; 4. Martial; 5. Heloise; 6. Adele; 7; Jules; 8. Theodule; and 9. Laura. The Petitioner said his wife died in 1822 in Lafourche Parish in the residence of the patina, after her death two of their children also died, 1. Edmond in 1822 and 2. Severn in 1823, that succession of said wife was opened in that parish. One child, Heloise a minor, but above the age of puberty, married Felix Villere of the parish of Plaquemines. (Filed 3 May, 1830) SUCCESSION OF PIERRE VEILLON: Elizabeth BERTRAND, formerly widow of Pierre Veillon, now wife of ANTOINE DALON of New Orleans, petitioned the court and stated that Pierre Auguste VEILLON, only off spring of her marriage with the deceased was the only heir and he was a minor under age of puberty. His paternal uncles were Joseph Veillon and Edward Veillon, the latter resides in New Orleans. Eualie Leocadier Villere, widow of Jean Rene Gabriel Cyrille Sozinde, acting for self on account of her separate property and community property and stated Philip Leon Fazande, her only son born the month of October, 1827. Maternal Uncle to said child was Gabriel Veillon of St. Bernard Parish (35 slaves named with other movables) The plantation was situated on the right bank of the Mississippi River, five leagues below the city of New Orleans and was called "FORT LEON PLANTATION". It was a dueling bricked between post raised on brick pillors (sic) four feet above the ground, covered with shingles with a front and back gallery and devided into parlors, a bed chamber, a dining room, a closet and a pantry with an extension cellar on the ground floor, a wooden kitchen in two peices and covered with pickets. A small wooden house in the yard, covered with pickets composed of two rooms with a front and back gallery and a closet on the back gallery. Two wooden pigeon houses covered with shingles and well stocked with pigeons. A wooden hospital covered with pickets, raised four feet above the ground, composed of four apartments with a front gallery, a coach house in the rear and a day kennel underneath. A store house of wood raised four feet above the ground covered with pickets with closed galleries on each side, used as stables. One fodder shed built of wood and covered with preaux. A large building of ninety feet long and eighty-eight feet wide containing a sugar house with all sugar equipment. A prudery to receive 200 hogheads of sugar (the mill was propelled by horses) The building is made of timber covered with pickets. There were two sheds used for Negro quarters that will accommodate forty slaves and there was a small house for an overseer. There was a bell with a steeple, a large kettle for cooking the vitals of slaves, set up near the sugar house. On the plantation were 240 arpents planted in sugar cane . Five cords of wood has been transported to the sugar house. The plantation is appraised at $26,000, one half which belongs to the succession as community property. The plantation has a total of twenty-six arpents frontage and forty arpents depth and bounded on the upper side by the property of Jacque Philip Villere and on the lower side by the property of Gabriel Fazande, SR. On the lower side of Fort Leon Plantation is a tract of land, two arpents frontage, belonging to the Governor of this state. According to a plan dated 25 April, 1829, drawned by:Louis Bungur, Esq. Surveyor General of the state, the above description of Fort Leon Plantation was taken and entered into the succession. (filed 22 May 1830) SUCCESSION OF: JEAN GABRIEL CYRILLE FAZANDE Eulalie LEOCADIE, petitioned the court and stated that on the 25th day of September. 1825, she married said Rene Gabriel Cyrille Fazande and had two children, only one of whom is the off spring of their marriage. That on the 31st day of July of the present year (1830) that the petitioner had the misfortune to lose her husband, who died in the city of New Orleans, leaving petitioner with a minor child named Phlip Leon Fazande, that their community property was composed of one third undevided share of a sugar plantation, slaves, cattle, and other effects attached to the land. The other two-thirds belonging to Felix and Anatalie VILLERE, brothers of the petitioner. (filed 13 August 1830) SUCCESSION OF: DANIEL B. THOMPSON: Gidion FORSYTH, petitioned the court and stated that Daniel Bowley THOMPSOn died in this parish on the 27th day of August, 1830, leaving property and that all of his heirs were absent from the state. The inventory consisted of only household items. Forsyth stated that Daniel B. THOMPSON was an overseer for him and lived on his property. (filed 13 August 1830) NOTE: This is filed before death date, must have died in July instead of Aug.) SUCCESSION OF: HONORIE COSSEE, Clarise BISTER, petitioned the court as a widow of the deceased and now wife of Noel Buras, and stated she was confirmed by said court as natural tutor on the 27th of November, 1825 to her minor children to wit: 1. Melasie; 2. Isadore; 3. Philis; 4. Elenore; 5. Marie Adeline, all by her marriage to HONORIE COSSEE. That on the 30th of November that same year an inventory was taken and their property was on the left bank of the Mississippi River in this Parish of Plaquemines (rest illegible) (Filed ? ) SUCCESSION OF: JEAN BAPTISTE GAUTIER, Clarise BISTER, petitioned the court and said she was the wife of the deceased HONORIE COSSE, and that a tract of land on the left bank of the Mississippi River fourteen leagues below the city of New Orleans, five arpents frontage and forty depth was auctioned after legal advertisement and was sold to Jean Baptiste GAUTIER, for $450.00 on the third day of February, 1827. She stated that his minor children were: Carmalite; 2. Gustave Euphren; 3. Adele. (filed 16 Nov. 1829) SUCCESSION OF: ROSETTA, WIDOW OF ELOI DUMBARD. Marie DUMBARD, petitioned the court and said she was the widow of Pierre Damier and stated that ROSETTA DUMBARD was the widow of JEAN SALVANT. The children of Rosetta DUNBARD SALVANT were: 1. Celestine, wife of Joseph Veillon; 2. Rosetta Dumbard, wife of Andre Barrois; 3. Gertrude Dumbard, wife of Francois LaFrance; 4. Alexander Dumbard; 5. Valery Dumbard; and 6. Widow Pierre Damier, the Mother and tutrix of minors, 1. Marcicerte and 2. Dresin. (there was a plantation 8 leagues below New Orleans. ) SUCCESSION OF: ELOI DUMBARD, (the children of Eloi, differ somewhat from that of his wife.) Children named in his succession were: 1. A. Marie DAUMER; 2. A. Rosalie SALVANT; 3. Celestine VEILLOU; 4. Louis; 5. Genevive; 6. Charles (deceased) ; 7. Pierre (deceased) Pierre had the following children: 1. St. Luc; 2. Pierre; 3. Rosine; 4. Gertrude; 5. Alexander; 6. Valery; 7. Melcerite; 8. Drozine; There were no children named for the deceased Charles. (filed 25 April, 1827) SUCCESSION OF: JAMES T. WILLIAMS, Harvey Elkins petitioned the court wishing to dispose of the property situated at the mouth of Bayou St. John; which was mortgaged by him to secure the rights of the minor children of which he was the tutor, to wit: 1. Thomas.(filed 31 July 1830) SUCCESSIONS OF: JAMES PATTERSON, Elizabeth Rebecca, widow of the late James PATTERSON, came before the court and swore that the said James Patterson died in this parish at the Balize on the 1st day of ? and left property in this parish and left no heirs but the petitioner, (filed 13 June 1829) LAST WILL & TESTAMENT OF: JAMES PATTERSON: This is the last will and testament of James Patterson of the state of Louisiana and the parish of Plaquemines, made at the Balize on this the 10th day of June in the year of our Lord 1823. I being in good health and body and of sound mind, memory and understanding---First ,my will is that my executrix here in named do pay all my just debts as soon as may be convenient and do here-by devise and bequeath to my loving wife, Elizabeth Rebecca Patterson all my estate, both real and personal....... Signed - James Petterson, Branch Pilot, processed Verbal 20 Oct. 1830 DECLARATION OF DEATH OF: FELIX ALBERT VEILLON, Nicolas REGGIO and Rosemond FAGOT swore Felix Albert VEILLON died in this parish 30 July 30, 1831. Joseph VEILLON, resident of this parish of Plaquemines petitioned the court and said Felix Albert VEILLON, age about 26 years, was born the natural child duly acknowledges by petitioner and the late MARIE MOREAU, the widow of Francois LaFRANCE deceased in the parish some years ago., that said Felix Albert Veillon had never been married and had died intestate with property in this parish on the 4th day of July in this year of our Lord 1831, leaving some property, movable and immovable in this parish..... that in capacity of natural father and heir of said Felix A. Veillon, deceased. Your petitioner is willing and deserve to have an inventory taken and appraised. (property was appraised for $12, 090.00. SUCCESSION OF: CHARLOTTE LA BARRE, wife of ANTOINE BIENVENU SEVIOR (SENIOR) , petitioner Delphine VELLERIE Of the parish of Plaquemines, planter, acting as tutor to Philip VELLERE, his minor son, humbly showeth that Philip V. is minor, and is heir of the late CHARLOTTE LaBarre, the deceased wife of Antoine BIENVENU Senior (Sevior) planter, of the parish of St. Bernard, by representation of Delphine Bienvenu, his deceased Mother. That besides Philip Villere and the two minor children of Louis HARDY De BORSBLANE, named ADELE AND ARMAND, from his first marriage with the late Adele BIENVENU, there are nine other children of age, daughters and sons of the late Charlotte LaBarre and Antoine BIENVENU. (filed 15 August 1831) SUCCESSION OF: JOSEPHINE VAHAMONDE, widow of FRANCOIS DEVERBOIS. Caroline Deverbois and Valery Duplesses, her husband petitioned the court that they were the tutor of minor child, Pierre DEVERBOIS, minor above the age of puberty respectively showeth that on the 29 December 1828, certain property here-in mentioned and belonging to the succession of the late widow of DEVERBOIS situated in the parish of Iberville and the Judge of Probate of that parish sold it at public auction, along with slaves for the total sum of $15,200. The petitioners represented by attorney Reggio, also request the land owned by minors in partnership with Elmive? Deverbois, wife of AUGUSTE CHRISTIAN in the parish of Plaquemines be sold so minor children could devide the property. (after much debate, the petition was granted and the plantation and cattle was sold.) SUCCESSION OF: GUSTAVE MARIGNEY, Judge Leonard of Plaquemines Parish was commanded by Judge Chs. Blanch of New Orleans to take inventory and send a copy to his court. Mentioned in inventory were: a undevided one half of a sugar plantation situated in Plaquemines Parish on the right bank of the river at about 8 leagues below the city of New Orleans, composed of 2 tracts of land, the first measuring 13 Arpents and 1/3 fronting the river and forty arpents depth, bounded by property of the late Antoine Paturet and now belonging to Zenin Vinet and below by property of widow Jean Salvant, a dwelling house, sugar and birgery? house, mill, steam engine, magazines, Negro Cabins and all other.... The other tract of land measuring 5 arpents more or less fronting the river, 40 depth, bound on upper line by Raphael Sabady? here to fore Joseph Bertrand and on the lower side by said property of Zenin Vinet. Both properties appraised for the sum of $32, 000 for the land and $24,653.00 for 35 slaves, stocks and etc.(filed 30 August 1831) SUCCESSION OF: PIERRE JOSEPH BURAS AND MARIE LOUISE COLLETTE (his wife), Petitioners, JEAN BURAS, DROSIN BURAS; FIRMEN BURAS: MARCELITE BURAS, wife of HELAIRE BURAS by her husband, duly authorized; JULIENNE BURAS, wife of FRANCOIS BURAS, by her husband, authorized, respectively showeth that some time in the year of 1830, PIERRE JOSEPH BURAS, the father of the petitioners died in this parish and also that MARIE THERESA COLETTE (Note: name difference) , wife of the said deceased and mother of the petitioners, died in this parish sometime in the month of January last, (1832); Left one minor son, JUSTIN BURAS. Property owned at time of death was on the right bank of the Mississippi River, 18 leagues below New Orleans. 20 arpents front and 40 arpents deep, bounded by lands on upper side of John MsDonough, and on lower side by Pierre Jean Pierre Buras. That a marriage contract was made between petitioner and his wife and that since their union they resided in this parish where their property is located...(filed 12 November, 1832. (no children named) Henry SAUCIER , dated 3 Sept 1832, property situated by Antoine Edmond BACHEMIN, executor of estate (will dated 22 Aout 1832, named several heirs in French - not children) Charles Reggio, filed 12 Feb 1844, unmarried - no forced heirs. Therese Melvina REGGIO, w/o Nicolas REGGIO, she died in 1812 in Plaquemines Parish, left an infant child about three years of age named Coralie, dated 29 January 1814 Felicite DUVERNAY, dated 14 January 1824. Joseph DEVERNAY petitioned the court as executor of his deceased mother, Felicite D. widow of Francois DUVERNAY. She died 3 Dec 1823, other heirs were: 1) Aimee, a daughter and w/o William BALLAY, and 2) Edward Joseph, a minor. Nicolas GUENARD, Euranie JOLY? legimate wife of the late N.GUENARD said he died on or about 4 1832 (sic) in this parish leaving six children: 1) Estele; 2) Claire Elmina; 3) Heloise; 4) Anais Eliza; 5) Nicolas; 6) Mathilda, all minors. (she asked to be tutor) and stated there was property owned by her deceased husband and widow Salvrent GUENARD, 4 tracks of land situated on the right bank of the Mississippi River measuring 9 arpents front by forty deep. A track of land on right side of river five arpents front and forty back, valued at $3,500 (many slaves named) Margarete DELERY, deceased w/o Luis GURIN. Luis GUERIN petitioned the court to be natural tutor of his minor children; 1) Marie Coralie; 2) Ovide, and 3) Marie Christine. Children recieved $7,043.82 cents, as payment for undevided one third of 29 arpents and a half front on the right bank of the Mississippi River, bounded on upper side by N. REGGIO, below by Cyprein VALEO? and share of undevided 30 slaves. BASTIEN BURAS, Marie Julienne BURAS, w/o Bastien BURAS, who died in this parish 20 November 1838, leaving the following children: 1) Pierre Bastien 2) Francoise; 3) Urbain; 4) Jean Louis; 5) Joseph RAPHIEL; 6) Fireman; 7) Jean Benoit; 8) Jean Bazel., of this parish Marie Joseph SEXNAIDRE, widow of Noel FREDERICK, petition for tutoship to minor child, filed 9 March 1833, Minor was Emile FREDERICK. Succession of Pierre CLOSE (Cosse) (filed 19 Dec 1831) Marie FONTENELLE, widow of Pierre Cosse of this parish swore that Pierre COSSE died on the (Blank) day of September 1831, in this parish leaving some property in the community with petitioner consisting of a plantation, slaves And other movables. That said deceased left 9 children, 3 are married, VIZ: 1) Arsens CLOSE wife of Henry HINGLE; 2) Rosalie CLOSE, wife of Jean Charles SEXEANARDER (SEXNAIDRE ); 3) Amelia CLOSE, wife of Jean Joseph VOISIN. Property mentioned in inventory was on right side of the river about 45 miles below the city of New Orleans, 4 arpent and 44 feet fronting the river and forty depth, bounded by Pierre CAGNELET and below by Maximillion MARTIN, property and movables valued at $ 17, 070.00. SUCCESSION of Joseph MARTIN (filed 19 Dec 1831) Genevive YARBRAY (YARBOROUGH), wife of Joseph MARTIN of this parish petitioned the Court and swore that Joseph MARTIN died 17 Nov 1831 in this parish and left community property consisting of a plantation and slaves and other movables. That the said deseased was tutor of the minors Children to wit: 1) Nicolas Marlin, 13; 2) Ovide, 11; 3) Mathilda, 9 yrs 4 mo; 4) Nobert, 7 years; The children of his deceased son, Jacque MARTIN. She asked to be tutor of her grandchildren. The plantation located on the left bank of the Mississippi River, about 45 miles below the city of New Orleans at a place called Pointe-a-la- Hache, established and cultivated as a rice plantation, measuring 12 1/2 arpents fronting the river and forty depth. The dewelling house, kitchen and rice mill and said plantation boundd above by property of Barthelemy FONTENELLE and appraised at $2,000 - 10 slaves, cattle and other movables, valued at $7,526.00. Succession of Jean JOSEPH (filed 23 Jan 1832) Mrs. Marie JOSEPH GAUTIER, widow of Jean JOSEPH, deceased of this parish petition the Court and stated she was the wife of the late Jean JOSEPH, who died in this parish. That 1) Josephine JOSEPH, age 10 ; and 2) Jean Francois, 6 yrs; residing with her were minors from the marriage with the deceased. That the said Jean Joseph owned community property with petitioner. The land was 1 arpent 1/2 front on the left bank of the river and 14 lbelow the city of New Orleans, having 40 arpents depth, bounded by said widow, appraised at $300.00. Succession of Sally RANSOM (filed 13 Feb 1832) Mrs Armand LANAUX and DECOTEAUX SAUCIER, both residing in this parish at English Turn, nearest neighbors of Doctor Gideon FORSYTH, who declared that on the 30th day of August 1823, that the deceased died in the house of said Doctor FORSYTH, his wife named Sally RANSOM, age about 28 years, native of the town of Montecello, state of Conn. and daughter of Elijah RANSOM of said place and Elizabeth RANSOM, the father and mother of deceased. She was the first wife of said DR. FORSYTH. On the 23rd day of August 1821, died also, his second wife at his residence in this parish, named Elizabeth PROTOR BROOKS, widow HOPKINS, the ---- of New London in the state of Conn, d/o Hubbell BROOKS and Lady BROOKS of that place. The said deceased left at the time of her death an infant, age now 2 years and 6 months, named Lusis FORSYTH and the time of her death, a child now about 14 years named Sarah FORSYTH, both said children being with their father, the said DR FORSYTH in this parish at the place before said.
