A native of Palermo, Sicely and resident of this state for fifty years. Mr TEDESCO, was 61 Years of age and was born in 1848, He came to this country in early boyhood and settled in New Orleans, where he identified himself with the import banana business.....He drifted from this to the lugger business, runing on the lower coast and speculating on Orange crops; At this he accumulated some money....He was well known from one end of Plaquemines Parish to the other. Captain TRDESCO was twice married, a daughter, Mrs. Peter SPICUZZA survives him from his first marriage. His second marriage was with Mrs. John GIORDANNO, mother of our worthy citizen Frank Giordano of Home Palce, who survives him.... Interment was in Vincent de Paul Cemetery on Saturday, 23rd at 2 p.m. Miss Julia MORLIER, died Monday 8 Feb 1909 in New Orleans, 19 years of age Miss MOLIER was the daughter of our distinquished fellow citizenm the Honorable Marius MORLIER, who at present lives in New Orleans. Funeral rites were held on Wednesday 8thy day of February at ST. Thomas Church, Pointe -a-la-Hache. Miss MORLIER was born and reared at Pointe-a-la-Hache. Funeral service were conducted by the REV. Father COLLE. Honorable A. Paul ALBERTI, died 28 February, he was a promiment citizen of Plaquemines Parish and had been ill two years. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. DRANE of Algiers. BARTHELEMY RAGAS, died suddently on Thursday morning at 1 a.m., rising a few minutes prior to his death, he seated himself before a fireplace, into which he was heard to fall by his son, with whom he lived, and hastening to his aid, he found his father dead with his head & hair partly burned. His funeral which was largely attended took place here Friday, his remains being interred in ST. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. He leaves three sons and two daughters. ( published 13 March 1909) Mrs. A.C. MENGE ( nee Catherine CONRAD), died 10 March 1909, another land-mark was added to the rich harvest of the grim reaper, the lingering illness which rendered her an invalid for the last few years came to a peaceful end last Wednesday afternoon. Nearly every member of her large family about her bedside. Her remains were tenderly laid away the following day, the funeral being the largest wittness in this section in which she lived. Eighty-five years ago, Catherine CONRAD was born in the village of Gros - Beeren, Sexony, Germany, and came to this country with her parents at the age of fourteen, locating in this parish. Reared by the sturdy parents under the precepts of true Christianity, she labored in her earlier years in teaching the young, principally devoting her time with patience and energy to the beautiful Sunday School work, which later bore fruits in many of her disciples. In 1844 she married Anton MENGE who died in 1866, leaving a rich heritage, four sons and one daughter, Miss Nettie, all of whom with one sister, Mrs. WEISE, have now survived their aged mother.... Marie SCHAYOT, infant daughter of Emile SCHAYOT and Marie MARTIN, died 17 March 1909. She has joined the Seraph band who surrounds the thrown od God,.... Her mother preceeded her by a short span. Casimere FEGAS, a Porto Rican was found lying on a cabin floor at Louisiana Reusite Plantation with a bullet hole through his right temple, the 20th of March 1909 Miss M.E. ANDERSON, one of the saddest events ever wittnessed in this settlement was the funeral of Miss M.E. ANDERSON, beloved daughter of Mrs. Sarah ANDERSON of Ostrica. The deceased was 19 years and 6 months of age and leaves a mother and four sisters. John STEWART, on Thursday night, 1 April 1909, died when on his way with a fleet of bardges and the dredge, Saline ....... The fleet was anchored in front of FASTERLING's store and about 10 o'clock, while securing the ropes on the bardge he was accidently thrown overboared by one of the ropes, in falling he pulled his brother, Tom STEWART overboared , with Tom being a good swimmer he reached shore safely, but John drowned before help could reach him. He was 41 years of age anda native of New Orleans. His brother offers a $25.00 reward for the recovery of his body. Alfred L. ROUSSEAU, a dairyman was found dead floating in the river in upper Pointe-a-la-Hache last Monday and was claimed by his relatives yesterday. He disappeared from New Orleans some ten days ago. (published 10 Apr 1909) Albert METCALF, age 29. (published 17 Apr 109) David GLEASOR, (published 17 Apr 1909) Honorable E. Howard McCALEB, died Thursday morning 22 April 1909 at his residence at 1715 Calhoun ST. New Orleans after an illness of about ten days, with an attack of erysipilas . Mr McCALEB was well known in Plaquemines parish, where a generation ago he was a distinquished Confederate soldier and was in the famous battle of Gattysburg. After the Civil War he located in New Orleans and in 1866 married Miss Idealie COLLINS, the daughter of Judge T. Wharton COLLINS. Miss COLLINS was also adopted as a daughter by Judge FOULHOUSE of this parish and Mr. FOULHOUSE's aid quickly advanced Mr. McCalab to a prominent place to the lawyers of this state. He succeeded to Judge FOULHOUSE's business in the parish of Plaquemines and we believe inherited Judge FOULHOUSE's valuable library and from all these causes became very familiar with the business affairs of the parish of Plaquemines and its people. Mr McCALEB is survived by his wife and a large family including E.H. Mc CALEB JR, a prominent lawyer of New Orleans, DR. James F. McCALEB of Ms... and several other children.... Interment was in Metairie Cemetery. REWARDS OFFERED FOR RECOVER OF BODIES FROM THE ILL FATED TUG BOAT "EAGLE" All died 25 Apr 1909 The following died on the tug boat "EAGLE" that found its way to the bottom of the river at Pointe Celedte. On Sunday April 28th 1909. Captain George GEORGE. master of the Eagle from Algiers Richard LeBLANC, mate from Donalsville, LA Charles GOODABUB,second engeneer Alexander MOORE, cabin boy Charles MARTIN (large add in 1 May 1909 issue) age 18 years, weight about 130 pounds, has C.M. tattooed on one arm ($50.00 reward) C.A. GOODBUB, age 48 years, height, 5 feet 5 inches , Iron gray hair. ($25.00 reward) Florence MORGAN, Colored chambermaid ( $25.00 reward - body found at Potash floating 31 May 1909) buried there. ******** Mrs. Stefano CARLO, better known as Mrs. ESTEVETTE, died last Tuesday morning, 18 May 1909 after a breif illness. Mrs ESTEVETTE cane to this parish in 1844 with her husband, who departed this life some 16 years ago. She always led the life of a recluse and never troubled over the cares and worries of her neighbors, consquently she made few friends and in her last illness, few of her neighbors knew that the end was so near. Her remains were took to New Orleans and interred in ST. Louis Cementery. Mrs. Andre ADER, age 71 years and 9 months, one of the oldest residents of Pointe-a-laHache, died at her residence, Saturday 22 May 1909 after an illness of several weeks, Mrs. ADER was a Miss GRAVOLET and a native of this parish, She had many lovely traits of character, which endured her to all who knew her. She is survived by a son, Paul ADER and two brothers, P.A. GRAVOLET and Frederick GRAVOLET. The funeral largely attended took place at ST> Thomas Catholic Church Sunday Evening and interred in ST Thomas Cemetery. MRS, Patrick Lyons, age 62 years, (died 16 June 1909. )A much respected member of a large family of that name living at Home Place, died Wednesday afternoon at Charity hospital as the result of a bite of a crab on the endex finger of the left hand while she was cleaning it to cook just 11 days ago. Mrs Lyons condition was not considered serious until Wednesday morning when she was taken to New Orleans where she died. Mrs. William CROSS, wife of William CROSS SR. of ST. Sophie died suddently last SAturday 12 June, 1909 at her home. She was well known for her kindly traits and her departure caused deep sorrow in the community of which she lived..... Theophile BURAS was killed by his son last Thursday at Venice. Young Alexander BURAS age 18. Eye Wittness comprising solely of family members declared that the killing was purely the result of accidental discharge of a shot gun in the hands of young Alexander who was cleaning the gun....further inquery is pending. The deceased was a native of Venice where he was born some fifty years agom the son of Mr. & Mrs. Clement BURAS. He leaves a widow and five children, and one brother. Mrs. Eliza CHARTIER, widow of the late Pierre BREMOND, an aged and highly respected lady crossed into the great beyond last Thursday the 22 July 1909 at her home in Home Place. Though she reached the ripe old age of 77 years, Mrs. BREMOND was in apparent good health until a few days of her demise. As a life long resident of Home Place she was ever known for noble, charitable and christian deeds...She leaves nine children and a large number of grandchildren and great Grandchildren. Infant Boy HANSON, child of Captain & Mrs. HANSON of Burwood ( published 24 July 1909) Marie Josephine LIVAUDAIS, infant daughter of Mr. & Mrs O.S. LIVAUDAIS, died Monday at 5 p.m., 22 Aug 1909 in the ST. Bernard community. Marie Josephine was only 8 months old and up to a few days ago was apparently in the best of health. MRS. N.B. CANNON, died last Monday morning 16 August 1909, age 52, the wife of Honorable N.B. CANNON of Happy Jack, she crossed the bourne whence mo traveler returns..... Mrs CANNON was born in this parish some 52 years ago, daughter of Mr & Mrs Frederick Comrad, and in early womanhood was married to Newton B. CANNON, the union being blessed by the birth of eight children, Mrs. Howard McCurdy; Mrs. Frank BARI; Frederick; Natalie; Wire; Ada; Newton B. JR.; and Frank, all who survive her together with Espy CANNON, a stepson, and Mrs Ellen CONRAD, her aged mother..... Her mortal remains was tenderly laid to rest in the family grave. Rev. W.S. SLACK performing the last rites of that faith. MRS. Bernard POTASH, following a long illness of years, death came last Wednesday as a balm to the suffering of the widow of the late Bernard POTASH. Born in Rhinebishaffeim, Germany just 70 years ago, Mrs. POTASH has beed a resident of this parish since 1870 having, with her late husband chosen New Texas Settlement as their home, where aside from their merchandising business, they owned one of the finest orange groves in this state..... She was loved for deeds of charity and devotion. She is survived by five children, MosesPOTASH of Victoria, TX; Isidore POTASH of New Orleans; Mrs Miss Sophie POTASH and Joseph & Sam POTASH of this parish. William J. O'BRIEN, a native of this parish died at Pas a Loutre Lighthouse on Sunday, 22 August 1909. While out bathing at the pier head of the lighthouse, he dove under the water and came to the surface struggling and immediately sank out of site.... His face was badly bruised, showing he had hit some obstruction. He had been an employee of the U.S. Goverment lighthouse for the last twenty years. Alberta COLEMAN, black, a child drowned in the river last Thursday, when she and 2 friends attempted to cross the river in a skiff opposite Boothville and the skiff overturned. Little Alberta drowned and the other two children was saved by hanging onto the skiff. Miss B. HINGLE, daughter of the late Belle HINGLE, died at her home in Buras Tuesday 12 October at 5 p.m. Interment was largely attended at the Buras Cemetery. Captain Joseph WILDERSEN, died Sunday, 14 November 2909, He was one of the oldest employees on the place ( Myrtle Grove Plantation), crossed the great devide. Up to the time of his death he was overseer on Myrtle Grove Plantation, having acted in that capacity for a number of years. The remains were interred in New Orleans. Taylor FLOYD, a negro ended his earthly career by cutting his throat with a razor... He was 60 years of age and a resident of Oakville most of his life. Mrs. Joseph A. GUTHRIE, at Pearl River, Mississippi on Monday 6 Dec 1909 ( nee Doretta JOHNSON) daughter of Captain John JOHNSON, the well known member of the Branch Pilots Asso. Her remains were interred in Greenwood Cem. in New Orleans. She was scarcely 20 years of age and leaves her father & mother, three sisters and one brother. Erick HALBERG, on 7 Dec 1909, age 52 years, a native of South Dhields, England and a resident of this place for the past year met his death by his skiff colliding with the gasoline boat " RELIANCE", Mr HOLBERG was much esteemed in our community. He leaves a widow and two daughters and a son to morn his untimely demise. Mrs. Widow Paul DEZET ( nee BULOT) of Sunrise, Mrs Dazet was apparently in good health until a few hours before her death... Mre DAZET was esteemed and loved by all who knew her. She leaves a large family of Grown Children and grandchildren to morn. Celeste BULOT, of Sunrise, his death was expected as he suffered from an incurable disease and bore its ordeal with patience and Christian fortitude..... Born and reared in this parish, Mr Bulot possesed those stirling qualities which wee peculiar to the pioneer settlers and inhabitants of this parish.... He leaves a large family of sons and daughters and brothers, Cllement and Richard BULOT to morn. Mrs. Pauline Anastasc Le RICHE ( Ronquillo) on Saturday 25 Dec 1909 at 6 p.m., age 86 years. Pauline A. RONQUILLO, wife of the late Hypilite LaRICHE, a native of Plaquemines Parish and a resident of Pointe-a-la-Hache for 14 years. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Mrs. A. FELIX ( nee BOWERS) of New Orleans, being sick only a few days, her death comes like a thunderbolt from a clear sky. Mrs FELIX was born in this parishand leaves to morn her sudden death, four brothers, George; Abraham; Theodore and Lazard BOWERS and one sister, Mrs Regina LEOPOLD, wife of Hon.
