Gonvery well-known young New Orleans lawyer, died at Hotel Dieu, Monday, September 19, 1927, at 12:15 a. m. after a Short illness. Mr. Convery was elected grand knight of New Orleans Council No. 714, Knights of Columbus, September 7. He had been successful in the practice of law and took an active part in civic and public affairs, particularly Boy Scout and Community Chess work. He was born in Scranton, Pa., and moved to New Orleans when a young boy. He was educated in parochial schools of the city and later studied at St. Vincent's college, Cape Girardeau, Mo. He entered the Loyola University law department in 1919 and was graduated with the LL.B. degree in June 1922. Mr. Convery was operated on for appendicitis. Mr. Convery was prominent in the Holy Name Society of St. Stephen's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Young Men's Buiness Club and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. M. A. Convery, two sister Miss Sarah and Marie, and one brother, the Rev. Charles F. Convery who was ordained into the priesthood last June. Mr. Gonvery, had many friends in the parish who will greatly regreat his untimely demise. ***** Died in New Orleans La on Tuesday March 1, 1927 Mrs Chandler C Wooton, nee Pauline Alberti a native of this parish, sister of Sheriff Ernest Alberti and daughter of the late Paul Alberti aged 45 years. The remains of the deceased were taken to Sunrise, Wednesday and interment made in the Nairn Cemetery. ***** Mr. Anthony Treadaway, a native and life-long resident of this parish, died at his residence at Potash on Tuesday, March 1st, 1927. Mr. Treadaway when he was summoned to answer the last roll call had reached the ripe old age of 89 years. A Confederate veteran, one who has worked all his life for the upbuilt of his parish. Highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him in his death the Parish of Plaquemines has lost one of its oldest and best citizens. He is survived by his aged wife, one daughter and nine sons, among whom is Mr. Geo, Treadaway who represents the 9th ward on the Police Jury, one sister and a brother. The funeral of the deceased was held Wednesday and the remain were followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. We extend to the bereaved family our heartfeit sympathy. ***** Died at Hotel Dieu, New Orleans, La. on Tuesday, February 8, 1927 at 12:30 a.m. Paul Pelas, beloved husband of Edna Cosse aged 44 years a native of the Parish of Plaquemines. ***** DIED.-in New Orleans, La. on Saturday, January 29.1927, Mrs. ALFRED ANDIGNAC, nee Dora Mevers, aged 69 years, a native of Pointe-a-la-Hache and a resident of New Orleans Mrs. Andignac was a most estimable lady who possessed beautiful traits of character which endeared her to every one in our community where she spent the greater part of her life and where she has numerous friends who were deeply pained in learning of her demise. Mrs. Andignac is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Viola Charbonnet, three sons, Frank, Albert and Walter Andignac, one sister, Mrs. Sophie Favret, and two brothers, Messrs. Frank C. and William A. Mevers. We extend to the bereaved family our deepest heartfelt sympathy. ***** DIED-At Home Place, La. on Wednesday, January 26th 1927 at 10 o'clock p. m., MRS WILLIAM HINGLE, aged 83 years; a native of the Parish of Plaquemines She is survived by three sons and four daughters, The funeral took place at St. Patrick's Church Friday and was largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friends and the remains were laid to rest in the St. Patrick cemetery. ***** DIED-In New Orleans, La., on Friday, Dec. 30, 1927. Mrs. CONSTANT DOBSON, nee Celina Fontenelle, aged 58 yesrs, beloved wife of the late Constant Dobson, and a native of Point-a-la-Hache. The deceased is survived by two sons, two daughters, two sisters and two brothers. The bereaved family has our deepest heartfelt sympathy. ***** Died in New Orleans La on Thursday March 10, 1927 Patrice Lae aged 67 a native of Pointe a la Hache and a resident of New Orleans for the past twenty five years. Mr Lae is survived by several children. ***** The sad intelligence reached here that on Sunday morning December 18, 1927 Mrs Ferdinand Ane estimable mother of Mrs A L Pourciau wife of Superintendent Pourciau, had departed this life at her home in Houma La. Mrs Ana was aged 78 years and is survived by four aons and three daughters. The many friends here of Mrs Pourciau extend the bereaved ones their sincerest condolences. ***** Mrs Pierre A. Gravolet, nee Judith Royer, beloved wife of the late Pierre A. Gravolet aged 80 years and 7 months, native of tbe Parish of Plaquemines and life-long resident of Pointe a la Hache, died at her residence on Tuesday, December 20, 1927 at 5' o'clock a.m. after an Ilineas of several weeks duration. Mrs. Gravolet was one of our oldest citizens who was held in the highest esteem by the community; was a kind and lovable mother possessed of amiable traits of character which endeared her deep in the affection of all who knew her. Mrs. Gravolet was the mother of our highly esteemed fellow citizens Senator Jos. D. Gravolet Messrs. E. W. Gravolet and Anson Gravolet, Miss Pallas Gravolet Mrs. H. C. Gravolet, to whom we profer our deepest and sincerest sympathy in the irreparable loss they have sustained. The funeral of the deceased, was held at the St. Thomas Catholic Church Wednesday at 10:00 o'clock a.m., was conducted by Rev. Father Hagen and very largely attended by sorrowing relatives and friend's. The remains were laid to rest in St. Thomas Cemetery. She is survived by two sons Emile and Rene Becnel, two daughters Mrs Marius Ansardi and Mrs Eddie Dolese and two sisters Mrs Joseph Miller and Mrs Noelis Barrios. St. Thomas Cemetery. ***** On Thursday June 21 1927 at 9:00 a.m. at Hotel dieu New orleans La Little Aline Theresa Martin aged 11 years and 7 months daughter of Mr and Mrs Adolph Martin of Pointe a la Hache died after an illness of a few days' duration. The remains of little Aline were taken to Pointe a la Hache Tuesday evening and the funeral was held at the St Thomas Church Wednesday morning at 10:00 and interment made in the St Thomas Cemetery. ***** Diee-in New Orleans La on January 16, 1927 at 2:40 a.m. Mrs Julia C Edgecombe aged 81 years 11 months and 22 days widow of Leonard Franklin Edgecombe. Leaves four daughters and three sons. ***** Captain Steve Gusina President of the Bar Pilot Assocition, the official organization of the pilots who handle ships across the bar at the mouth of the Mississippi River died Tuesday afternoon at his residence in New Orleans. He had been in ill health for the last two years. Captain Gusina decided to become a bar pilot and in 1907 he obtained his licence. The esteemed with which he was held by his fellow pilots was illustrated four years ago when the noted Ben Michel who for many years had headed the Assocition, died and Captain Gusina was elected to succeed him. {published March 12, 1927} ***** DIED-In New Orleans, La., on Friday, Dec. 30, 1927.
