Scott Family ***** Final rites for Mrs Rose Buras Bernard member of an old Plaquemines parish family were held Wednesday at the funeral home of Lanno-Panno -Fallo 625 North Rampart street with religious services at St Anthony's church in Boothville and interment in Venice. The widow of Joseph Bernard, Mrs Bernard 79 years old died at her residence 2210 Laharpe street Tuesday She was a native of Venice and had resided in New Orleans for the past 10 years. Both Venice and Buras were built by memebers of her family who have long been connected with general merchandise stores in the two communities. The late Hon. Joseph Bernard was president of the Police Jury for several years and was a recognized civic leader in the Parish. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs L B Galle, Mrs Kate Alberti and Mrs Herman Schoenberger of Buras. {published January 11, 1947} ***** Jules Estopinal of Arabi La died on Friday February 21st 1947. He is survived by his widow Alice Esteve Estopinal and his children Mrs Charles Parker, Mrs Roger Dragon, Mrs Albert Cousin, and Albert and Leon Estopinal and his brother Lucien Estopinal, half brother Emile Estopinal and nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Estopinal was a native and life long resident of St. Bernard Parish. Interment in St Vincent de Paul Cemeetery. ***** Spiro Marion Pavlovich vice president of the Buras Citrus Growers' Association, was crushed to death February 20th when a small building under construction at Buraas collapsed. Mr. Pavlovich who was 30 is survived by his wife the former Miss Audrey Arnold; a four month old son Spiro Marion Pavlovich Jr., his mother Mrs Mary Evasovich Pavlovich a sister Mrs William N Roeling; two nephews and a niece. Interment St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery. ***** Mrs. Mary Popich wife of John Marinovich of buras died Thursday afternoon after a couple weeks illness in New Olreans. Mrs Marinovich was the daughter of the late Annie Popich and Anthony Popich. She is survived by her husband and their children Nikolen, Peter, Anthony and Milton Marinovich and by six grandchildren, Rose, Annie, Anthony III, Mary, Milton Jr, and Linda Marinovich. Our Lady of Good Harbor Church Cemetery. {published March 29, 1947} ***** Jewitt C Pugh Sr of buras died Monday April 14th 1947 at 5:15 a.m. He is survived by his Wife Mrs Zellie Morel Pugh and his son Jewitt C Pugh Jr and grandchild Dianne Pugh. He was 55 years old and a native of Winston County Mississippi, and a resident of Buras for the past 15 years.Interment in Masonic Cemetery. ***** Ralph V Ducros superintendent of the New Orleans Stockyards, Inc. at Arabi died Monday following a heart attack, he was 64 years old. survived by his wife the former Albertine Nunez a stepson Col. Nunez C Pilet, brothers Arthur P Zachery and Miss Laura Ducros his sister. {published November 29, 1947} ***** Esteff DeFelice died at his city home 912 Wilson Dr. New Orleans Tuesday morning. Survived by his widow, three daughters, mrs Henry D Kilgen, Mrs Bert H Lewis, Miss Daisy DeFelice; four sons Steve, Lloyd,Luke and Savere DeFelice; two sisters Mrs Jules Ascosta and mrs Lovelace Picou; two brothers Joseph and henry DeFelice and four granchildren.
