(Fuz) Benson died Sunday, April 17, 1994 at home after a long illness at the age 79 years. He is survived by hig wife, Zelma. There are several nieces and nephews. Mr. Benson was a native of the Port Arthur Texas area for 56 years. He worked at Gulf Oil Refinery for 35 years then transferred to the Gulf Alliance Refinary at Belle Chasse La. for another 6 years before retiring in 1977 He has resided in of New Orleans for the past 24 years. He was a member of the Suburban Baptist Church in New Orleans. He served in the U.S Navy on the U.S.S Rasher Submarine in the Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the Avion Travelcade Club and served as President of the La. Chapter one year and as Governor of the Gulf Coast Region for 2 years. She was 93. Mrs. Bertrand was born in Buras and lived in New Orleans for 76 years. She was a fiber artist whose work was shown on the Festival of Women of the Arts in 1978. She received the Handweavers Guild of America Judges Choice Award and first place in the Contemporary Arts Center's National Thennial Competition.
