She was 48. Mrs. Mackey was a lifelong resident of Boothville. She graduated from Booth- ville High School and was an organist for Zion Hill Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Alphonse Claude Mackey, Sr.,; a son, Alphonse Claude Mackey, Jr.; a daughter Courtney Mackey; her mother, Mary Prout Taylor; four brothers, Alvin, Bert, Leander and Clarence Taylor, Jr.; four sisters, Elaine Butler, Eleria Mackey, Almida Thompson and Cindy Anderson; and two grandchildren. A funeral was held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Christian Church in Boothville, La. Burial was in Tropical Bend Cemetery ***** Drago Batinich, retired owner of Drago's restaurant in Lakeview died Wednesday at Memorial Medical Center. He was 84. A native of Molat, Croatia, and a resident of New Orleans for the past 58 years. He immigrated to the United Btates in 1939. In 1947, he married the first Plaquemines parish Orange Queen Gloria Cvitanovich. Tobgether, they opened and operated Drago's restaurant from 1952 until 1970. He was a parishioner of St. Dominic ~ and a proud member of the United Slaconian Benevolent Amociation. He is the beloved husband of Gloria Batinich. Father of Joan Batinich and the late Mary Ann Batinich Mikasinovich. He is the brother of Augustin Batinich of Molat, Croatia and the late Milka Batinich Strgacich and the late Sam Batinich. Funeral services were held on Friday, December 19 at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home. He attended Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimaron, New Mexico where he received special training in, Scouting For the Handicapped. He was instrumental in starting a troop for the handicapped in the New Orleans Area. He served on many scouting committees and served as Merit Badge Counselor. He touched the lives of many boys. He received Scoutmaster of the year several times and received the Silver Beaver Award for his outstanding service to the Boy Scouts of America.
