PLAQUEMINES PARISH MARRIAGES Extracts of wedding announcements from newspapers published in Plaquemines Parish between 1866 and 1898. All but five were taken from "The Plaquemines Protector One was extracted from the only found issue of "Plaquemines Republican" and four were taken from "The Empire Parish". All newspaper were published in Pointe a la Hache, Louisiana. ************************************************************* The following four marriages were published in "The Empire Parish" newspaper, published in Pointe a la Hache, Louisiana by F. S. Caro. MR. EUGENE GEORGES of France and MISS LOUISE HACK of Plaquemines Parish were married the 4th day of July, 1866. MR. FREDINAND MARTIN and MISS LEOCADIE COSSE were united in marriage on the 30th day of September, 1866 at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Pointe a la Hache. MR. JOHN P. HOLLY and FRANCOISE CHRISTINE LARTIGUE MONGURE, daughter of Armand Lartigue, our District Clerk, were united in marriage the 2nd day of February, 1867. MR. JOSEPH SOLIS andfMISS ANTOINE JEANFREAU, both resident of Plaquemines Parish were married by Judge F. S. Caro, the 18th day of ? 1867. The following marriage was published in "Plaquemines Republican". MR. ROBERT HINGLE and MISS SOPHIE LEOPOLD, both of Plaquemines Parish were married at St Thomas Catholic Church on Sunday morning the 25th of May, 1873 by the Reverend A. B. Langlois. The nuptial ceremonies were graced by one of the largest and most elegant reunions we have ever seen in our parish. The remainder of marriages were published in "The Plaqueuines Protector", Pointe a la Hache, . MR. ARSTILE TERREBONNE of Cheniere Caminada and MISS A. JAUDFROIS of Jesuit Bend were married the 19th day of March, 1887. MR. AMEDEE JEANFREAU and WIDOW BAZILE BURAS (nee LAURA DESPOT) posted Bans of Marriage 30 January, 1887. MR. WILLIAM THOS. WILLIAMS and MISS ELIZABETH RAPHIEL were married the 28 January, 1887 at the Hall of the Union Benevolent Association by Reverend P. Edgerson. MR. THOMAS JEFFERSON MARTIN of Plaquemines Parish and MISS EMMA LARTIGUE of New Orleans were united in marriage the 19th day of February, 1887 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in New Orleans. The bride is the daughter of F. A. Lartigue. MR. ADOLPH BANDIER and MISS PAULINE M. MORONEY were united in marriage on Tuesday evening the 15th day February, 1887 at the church of St. Mary in Algiers, Louisiana. MR. LEONCE BOUGON of Petite Prairie and MISS CLEMENCE FONTENELLE, daughter of Mr. Joseph Fontenelle of Pointe a la Hache, marriage was solemized at St. Thomas Church at Pointe a la Hache on Saturday, 11 June, 1887. After the ceremony the friends of the happy pair assembled at the residence of the bride's father, where sumptuous collation was indulged in. Upon the arrival of the steamer "Neptune", the entire party embarked escorting the couple to their home in Petite Prairie. The large, well ventilated ballroom of Pierre Bremond was placed at the disposal of the party and dancing was indulged in far into the wee hours of the morning. A very large number of the friends of the twain were present to wish them joy, and Pointe a la Hache, Grand Prairie, Buras, Pointe Michel and Petite Prairie turned out in a body to do them honor. The bride, as all brides do, looked beautiful and the groom was radiant with happiness. Mr. Bougon is one of Petite Prairie's most thrifty and energetic rice planters, and his handsome young Orange Orchard gives evidence of the skill and industry of its owner. While we sympathize with our friend Fontenelle in the loss of his charming daughter, we eangratulate him upon the acquisition of a son-in-law so deserving. With the loss to Pointe a la Hache of one of its fairest ornaments in the person of Miss Fontenelle, Petite Prairie adds one more to its list of graceful matrons in thee accession of Mrs. Leonce Bougon. They have our best wishes for a happy and prosperous future. We extend thanks to the groom for an invitation to be present. MR. ULYSSIS A. RIGAUD of Grande Island, Louisiana and MISS ALICE BAYHI, daughter of Mr. Samuel Bayhi, were united in holy wedlock. At 7:O’clock the sounds of wedding bells rang out from the steeple of St. Cecile Church at Jesuit Bend. The ceremony was performed by the Reverend Bertholin, Rastor of St. Cecile (published 4 June, 1887). MR. EMANUEL BURAS and MISS REGINIA BURAS were united in marriage on the 11th day of July, 1887. Mr. Buras is the leader of the Eureka Brass Band in Buras. MR. WARREN EASTON and MISS CAMILLE HART were married the 6th day of August, 1887. MR. ADOLPH J. BADEARUX of the "Observer" staff and MISS LOUISIANA (sic) BOUDREAUX of Thibodaux were married on Saturday, 13th day of August, 1887 at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Pointe a la Hache by Reverend Father Healy. MR. E. A. HENRITZ and MISS KATIE WALTZER, both of Plaquemines Parish were married at the residence of the bride's mother by Reverend Wiggins on the 17th day of October, 1887. MR. CHAS. HATTON and MISS ANNA BURAS were married at St. Patrick1s Catholic Church on the 10th day of January, 1887 by Father Healy. MR. ? and MISS KATIE KNESS of Grand Prairie were married in New Orleans on the 19th day of March, 1887. MR. PAUL CALLINA and MISS AMELIA COSSE of Point Pleasant were united in marriage by Justice of the Peace Theodore Shields. MR. ISIDORE BURAS and MISS FELICIE BRUNY, both of Plaquemines Parish were united in marriage at Tropical Bend on the 12th day of October, 1887. MR. ALFRED RICOUARD and MISS MARCELINE BAHL were married at the residence of the bride's parents by Honorable Theodore Shields on the 29th day of October, 1887. MR. JOHN AUGUSTINE and MISS GEORGINIA HOWLAND, both of Plaquemines Parish were married on Saturday, 29th of October, 1887 by Reverend P N. Bedel. MR. G. W. LAWS and MISS BONNIE BONNABEL, daughter of Alfred Bonnabel and Laura Rappleye, were married on Thursday, the 9th day of February, 1888 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church on Canal Street in New Orleans. HR. JAMES P. LARTIGUE, second son of Capt. Frank A. Lartigue Mongrue and MARIE CLARA GODEFROID, daughter of Louis A. Godefroid and Eliza Meinier of New Orleans were married at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans on the 11th of September, 1888. MR. JOHN B. HINGLE, son of Honorable Salvadore Hingle and MISS LAURA MARTIN, daughter of Honorable Leon Martin were married at 6:O’Clock the 2nd of April, 1888 at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Pointe a la Hache. The groom is a member of the S. S. Brass Band which played Meadel son's Wedding March. The bride is a member of the choir. MR. LOUIS P. SAHUQUE and MISS MARTHA M. FERNANDEZ were united in marriage the 28th of June, 1888 at the Annunciation Church at 5:30 P.M. MR. CHARLES F. HALLBERG and MISS MARY L. BURAS of the Jump were united in marriage at the home of the bride's father, Mr. Hypolite Buras, on Saturday, the 14th of July, 1888. The ceremony was performed by Judge Fellon. The groom is a naturalized citizen from Sweden. The bride looked lovely in her handsome attire of white with veil and orange blossoms while the groom appeared to realize the victory he had gained over her charming heart. Bridesmaids were: Liza Buras, Victorine Baril and Aurelie Clark. The groomsmen were: Joseph Clark, Antoine Buras and John Conway. MR. WM. G. HORNER of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and MISS LULA MAY BALL of Plaquemines Parish, daughter of the late T. B. Ball of England, were quietly married on Thursday evening, the 26th of July, 1888 at the residence of the bride's brother-in-law, Mr. G. E. Man. The bride, a perfect woman, was attired in a soft clinging robe of mull over satin and looked regally beautiful. The ceremony was performed by Reverend H. H. Waters of New Orleans. MR. VILLERE MARSH of the Jump and MISS ANNA CLEMTINE BURAS were united in marriage (date not given, published 11 August, 1888). MR. WILLIAM J. LOUDERBOUGH and MISS ADRIANA BURAS, both of Plaquemines Parish were united in holy wedlock on Tuesday, the 23rd of October, 1888 at 4:O’Clock P.M. at residence of the bride's parents. MISS NOON EMILE and the groom (groom not named) were married the 17th day of November, 1888 by Judge Fontenelle. MR. THOS. J. SERPAS and MRS. LOUISE SHARP were united in holy matrimony at the Catholic Church in St. Bernard Parish. The wedding was a quite one owing to a death recently in the family of the groom (published 24 November, 1888). MR. JAMES D. NELSON of Smithland, (sic) Louisiana and MISS MINNIE CONRAD, a charming lady of Plaquemines Parish were married on Wednesday evening the 5th of December, 1888 at Jesuits Church on Baronne Street in New Orleans. Reverend Father Hubert, S J. performed the ceremony. After the ceremony the couple and friends went to St. Charles Hotel for a Banquet. The couple will make their home in Smithville (sic). MR. DAVIS RAGAS and MISS ELIAME HINGLE interchanged marriage vows on Saturday, the 2nd day of February, 1889. When the contracting parties entered the church, attended by parents and friends the S.S.O. struck up the wedding march which ended with the entrance of Father Bertholin. The marriage ceremony was touching and impressive. MR, FELIX PIZANIE and MISS MARIE COSSE, the lovely daughter of Mr. Cyrille Cosse, were married at the Catholic Church in Pointe a la Hache by Reverend Father Bertholin on the 4th day of February, 1889. The bride, who is very pretty, was beautiful in her bridal costume of brocaded satin with appropriate trimmings. The groom is from the Crescent City and was dressed a la Prince Albert, who is noted for his good looks, was very handsome. (Marie Cosse Pizanie died suddenly on the 6th of February, 1889). MR. W. E. STRUCKE of New Orleans and MISS ANNA MARTIN of Pointe a la Hache were married on Saturday, the 2nd of March, 1889 at St. Patrick's Church. Miss Martin is one of the loveliest girls of this town-- one of Pointe a la Hache fairest flowers. MR. ROBERT JOHNSON and MISS LEONORE RAGAS were married at 5 P.M. on the 18th day of March, 1889 at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Pointe a la Hache. MR. EDDIE FLYNN of New Orleans and MISS MARY COLLETTE of Plaquernines Parish were united in marriage in New Orleans on the 10th day of May, 1889 by Honorable N. M. Rightor. MR. SIMON LEOPOLD of St. Sophie and MISS REGINA BAUER of Pointe a la Hache were married Sunday afternoon at 3 P.M. the 16th day of June, 1889 by Rabbi I. L. Leucht. A large arch constructed in the shape of the symbolic horse-shoe, tastefully decorated stood at one end of the spacious parlor, under whose rich draperies the groom and bride stood during the ceremony. The contracting parties being Israelites, the ceremony was performed in accordance with the rites of the Israelite religion--- The bride is one of the handsomest and most lovely girls of our town, wore a beautiful costume of albatros trimmed with crepe de chine and point-lace. Of her it can well be said, those who know her best love her best The groom, Mr., Simon Leopard is also a native of Pointe a la Hate and one of our most enterprising and popular young men --- (a list of their wedding presents follows). MR. LOUIS LEGIER of Pointe Michel and MISS CELIA LYONS, one of the brightest and loveliest daughters of Home Place were united in marriage on Thursday, 28 November, 1889----- The ceremony was performed by the beloved priest of St. Patrick Reverend Father Cuny-- MR. MATTEO MACHELLA of the lower coast and MISS VIOLA L. ARMSTRONG of Southwest Pass were married at 11 A.M. the 13th of May, 1889 by Reverend Father Bedel. The Association Hall was beautifully decorated with ever- greens and flowers. The bridesmaids were: Misses Maud N. Tesdale and Emma L. Brown, both of Pilottown. The groomsmen were: Messrs. William Armstrong, the bride’s brother, and B. Salatich. MR. GUSTAVE MICHEL and MISS ANNIE LYONS, the charming daughter of Mr. P. Lyons were united in holy matrimony on Wednesday, 29 October, 1889 at St. Patrick Church at Home Place. The bride, one of Plaquemines loveliest daughters, wore an elegant dress ornamented with point-lace and orange blossoms. The groom, who is a young man endowed with sterling qualities, looked his best by the side of his charming bride--- The bridesmaids were: Misses Celia Lyons, Del--? Lyons, Annie O'Brien, Julia Lyons, Rose Ballay, Mollie Gilmartin, Julia Lassus who were escorted by the following dashing young men: Messrs. Louis Legier, Gabriel Michel, Thos. Lyons, Pat Lyons, Jr., Fred Hingle, Jos. Hingle and Fred Giordano. MR. LUCIUS DRAGON and MISS MAXIMA DOLESE, Daughter of Judge E. Dolese were united in marriage the 9th day of February, 1889 at 5 P.M. at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Pointe a la Hache. MR. ERNEST DOBSON and MISS EMELIE MARTIN both of Pointe a la Hache were married at 5 P.M. the 12th day of June, 1889 at St. Thomas Church. MR. ROBERT SERPAS and MISS PHILOMINE OJEDA were married the 25th day of September, 1890 at 9:30 A.M. in St. Bernard Parish. Miss Ojeda is the daughter of Mr. Benite Ojeda and Mr. Serpas is the worthy son of Mr. Emanuel Serpas, an old and respected citizen of Terre Aux Bouf. MR. NICHOLAS RICHARME and MISS ZUTMA DRAGON were married the 18th day of December, 1890, both natives of Pointe a la Hache. Due to illness of the bride’s mother, the wedding was a quite one, only the most intimate friends and relatives being present. The bride is a beautiful young lady, one of Pointe a la Hache's fairest. The groom, a young man of promise of gentle manly manners. MR. EUGENE HINGLE and MISS ALICE CAVALIER were married at 4 P.M. at St. Thomas Catholic Church the 20th day of December, 1890. MR. VINCENT BOURGEOIS of New Texas, Plaquemines Parish and MISS IDA M. CONRAD of Pointe Coupee Parish were married at the Jesuit Church. MR. & MRS. BOURGEOIS left for their new home on board the steamboat "Laura Lee" (published 20 December, 1890). MR. JOHN DE SILVA and MISS SARAH YARBROUGH, both of New Orleans were married on Wednesday, the 16th day of April, 1890, at St. Anna's Church. The bridesmaids were: Misses Kate Lory and R. Stein. The groomsmen were: Messrs. Leonard Smith and M. Wilder. MR. FOREST COLLETTE and MISS MARIE LOUISE LECLERC were united in wedlock on Monday, 10 February, 1890, at St. Thomas Church by the Reverend Father Bertholin. Many friends from Hueling, New Orleans and our town attended the young couple to witness the last touch to the golden knot that made themone. As the procession approached the church entrance, the grand old organ under the skillful touch of Robert Hingle pealed forth in notes of the wedding march. The bride looked beautiful in her traveling costume leaning on the arm of her Uncle Cyrelle Martin followed by the groom and his Aunt, Mrs. Colette--- MR. VICTOR LINGONI and MISS JEANFREAU, one of the prettiest girls of Grand Prairie, daughter of Mr. Alex Jeanfreau, were married (published 26 July, 1890). MR. J. RADOVICH of Grand Prairie) a cousin of Mr. John Radovich were united in marriage with the handsome daughter of Mr. Jackine Lengoni (bride not named) on the 29th day of November, 1890. MR. AUGUSTE CHALITTION and MISS DELIA LYONS were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, the 26th of November, 1890. Father Cuny officiated. The groom is a prosperous young man of Home Place and his bride is the accomplished daughter of Mr. P. Lyons. MR. PAUL F. GRANGER of New Orleans and MISS ESTILLE LIVAUDAIS, the beautiful and accomplished daughter of Judge A. E. Livaudais, were married on Saturday, 23 May, 1891, at Pointe a la Hache. MR. CHARLES MOLINA and MISS DAISY ROBERTS were married last Wednesday, the 6th day of May, 1891. Mr. Molina has been a resident of Pointe a la Hache for many years) a native of Franklin in St. Mary's Parish. The couple will make their home in New Orleans. MR. LAWRENCE H. THOMPSON and MISS KATIE FLYNN were married at Pointe a la Hache on Wednesday, 14 May, 1891, at 8:30 P.M. Both bride and groom are from New Orleans. Mr. Thompson, a skillful mechanic is foreman of the courthouse, now in course of erection. MR. FELIX PIZANI and MISS ALIZIA MARTIN were united in marriage at St. Louis Catheral in New Orleans the 14th of May, 1891. The groom, now a young businessman in New Orleans, hut spent the years of his childhood in Plaquemines Parish. Miss Martin, a native of Pointe a la Hache, a lovely young girl who while wishing her unbounded happiness will regret her departure. (This is the 2nd marriage for the groom, Felix) MR. ANDRE TURLICH and MISS ANGELINE BARIL were united in marriage at the Jump the 4th of July, 1891. MR. JEFF D. LEVINE and MISS CORA A. WILLIAMS were married at the Pilots Association Hall on Saturday, 5 July, 1890, at 7:30 P.M. Mr. Levine is the youngest member of the Branch Pilots Association and was lately commissioned to succeed his father, the late Wm. T. Levine. The bride, Miss Cora Williams, daughter of Mr. J. B. Williams, who for the last 10 years has occupied the position of secretary and bookkeeper for the Pilot Association MR. FELIX BACHMIN and MISS ALZINA MARTIN, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Nicholas Martin, were married last Tuesday evening the 8th of September, 1891, at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Pointe a la Hache. While the organ pealed forth the joyous strains of the wedding march, with violin obligate by Mr. A. Chaussier, the bridal procession entered. First, came the bride leaning on her father’s arm. She was gowned in a rich cream brocaded silk plain skirt, with court train, the front was formed of a Chantille lace flounce, caught up with Orange blossoms. The bodice was high necked and high muffed sleeves, richly trimmed with lace. The illusion veil caught up with sprays of Orange blossoms enhanced the brunette beauty of the bride. The groom followed leaning on the arm of his mother, and next came the maids of honor: Misses Blanche Morehead and Celestine Bachemin accompanied by the groomsmen: Messrs. S. J. Martin and George Durant. The groom is a prosperous and popular merchant of the Crescent City. MR. JOSPEH LEDAIS AND ? (bride not named) daughter of Philibert L. Buras, were married the 12th of September, 1891, at Venice. MR. OSWELL CAVALIER and MISS LOUISE MELASlE MARTIN, both of Pointe a la Hache were married at St. Thomas Catholic Church on the 15th day of December, 1891. MR. E. MOYNET and MISS CARR, both of the Jump were married last week (published 19 September, 1891). MR. JACOB KRAFT of New Orleans and MISS AMOUDEL JOHNSON, the charming daughter of our highly esteemed friend, Mr. John G. Johnson, were married at the home of the bride's parents. The bride is one of Pointe a la Hache’s loveliest daughters. The groom is one of New Orleans energetic young men of sterling qualities and deserves the prize fhe won (published 19 December, 1891). MR. MARC GRUSICH, Esq. and MISS ELIZABETH M. HINGLE, adopted daughter of Mr. & Mrs. H. E. Gilmore, were married at the Church of Notre Dame de Bon Port (Our Lady of Good Harbor) in Buras on Saturday, 7 May, 1892. Reverend P. M. Bedel officiating. The bridesmaids were: Misses Louise Zettwock, Annie Flynn and Celeste Hingle. The groomsmen were: Messrs. John Zettwock, Wm. J. John and George W. Hingle, Jr. After the ceremony at the church, the wedding took place (sic) at the residence of Honorable Henry E. Gilmore at Nicholls. Mr. Grusich and his beautiful bride will locate at Nicholls, where his business is established, he being one of the most extensive oyster shippers in the parish. MR.. SAMUEL E. COON and MISS ALICE BURAS were married on Saturday, the 5th of November, 1892, at the Jump. MR. VILLERE MARSHALL and MISS LOUISA BURAS, daughter of Andre Buras, were married on Saturday the 5th of November, 1892. MR. THEOPHILE RAGAS and MISS PALMYRE HINGLE, both of Pointe a la Hache, were united in holy matrimony on Saturday, the 3rd of December, 1892, at St. Thomas - Catholic Church. The bride is the daughter of Salvadore Hingle, the groom is the son of Rosalie Hingle. MR. FRANK MARTIN of Home Place and MISS LYDIA MARTIN, one of Pointe a la Hache’s loveliest daughters, were married at St. Thomas Catholic Church at 5 P.M. on Wednesday, the 1st day of February, 1893. MR. GEORGE BAUER was united in marriage with MISS ROSA WElL of Alexandria on the 22nd day of March, 1893. The groom is a native of our town and brother to Mr. Lazard Bauer and Mrs., Simon Leopold of this parish. MR. JOHN J. CONRAD and MISS EVELINA LANAX were married in New Orleans on the 12 th day of November, 1893. MR. T. JEFF MARTIN and MISS ALICE PHILIPPE were married Thursday, 10 November, 1893. Mr. Martin is the son of Judge Simeon Martin and is a prominent rice planter of Calcasieu Parish. He left Plaquemines Parish a few years past. MR. JOHN DYMOND, JR. and MISS NITA ANTOINETTE SHAKESPEARE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. A. Shakespeare, were married at Trinity Church at 8:O’Clock P.M. on Thursday eve the 16th day of November, 1893. CAPT. WM. J. ARMSTRONG, a popular young man, and a member of Louisiana Branch Pilots Association and MISS FRANCIS SMITH, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. W. F. Smith of Buras, was married 15 November, 1893, at 4 P.M. MR. A. FELIX of Kenner, Louisiana and MISS S., BAUER of Pointe a la Hache were married in New Orleans at the residence of Mrs. F. Cahn in New Orleans on the 4th of January, 1893, at 6 P.M. MR. JOSEPH BOWERS and MISS MARY BIAGGINI were married at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. & Mrs. Antoino Biaggini on Sunday night, the 6th of January, 1893. MR. ARISTIDE RAGAS and MRS. B. JOHNSON were married the 21st of January, 1894. The groom is the son of Dominque Ragas of Pointe a la Hache. MR. NUMA CANCIEN and MISS URSULE DRAGON were married on Wednesday afternoon at St. Thomas Catholic Church. The bride is the daughter of one of the oldest citizens and most esteemed of Pointe a la Hache Mr. Pierre Dragon. Mr. Numa Cancien is a native of Lafourche Parish, but has spent many years in Plaquemines Parish. MR. CHARLES MARTIN and MISS LAURA HINGLE of New Orleans were united in holy bonds of matrimony at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Sunday, the 4th day February, 1894. For many years the bride was a resident of Plaquemines Parish. Mr. Charles Martin is one of the most industrious inen of Pointe a la Hache. MR. LEO MARTIN and MRS. HONORA MARTIN, both residents of Pointe a la Hache, were united in the holy bonds of matrimony on the 19th of March, 1894. The marriage ceremony was a quite one, only the near relatives of the parties witnessing. Mr. Leo Martin in one of the prominent residents of our town and is highly esteemed. Mr. STEPHEN KENAIR and MISS. SOPHIE BIAGGINI were married on the 14th of April, 1894, at the home of the bride’s parents. Shortly after twilight, the bridal party were united in bonds of matrimony by Judge M. E. bannon. Maids in waiting were: Misses Annie Biaggini, Josephine and leontine Bulot accompanied by Massrs. A. Carlini, Leon Bulot and Andrew Bowers. MR. ANTHONY LAFRANCE and MISS ANNA HINGLE, daughter of Mr. Pierre Hingle, one of the most popular citizens of Pointe a la Hache, were married at 5:30 P.M. the 8th of September, 1894, at St. Thomas Church with Reverend Father Colle Officiating. te groom has been connected with “The protector” for years and has always been a trusted collaborator and faithful friend. MERVERS of Pointe a la Hache and MISS NETTlE CRESPIN of Algiers were married in New Orleans on Wednesday, the 23rd of October, 1894, at St. Louis Cathedral. Mr. Mervers Is known throughout the parish, being the son of one of our most honored citizens and is today one of our most prosperous and successful merchants. At the appointed hour the bridal party entered the church, the bride leaning upon the arm of her uncle, Mr. John Laskey, proceeded to the chancel where the groom with his best man, Dr. Gaston Hebert, awaiting her coming. The fair young bride was handsomely gowned in a traveling costume of dove colored ottoman silk, trimmed in white satin, jewel trimming and point lace with hat to match. WHITE, a member of the Supreme Court of the United States; a native of Louisiana, was a bachelor for over 50 years married a widow who was his sweet heart, long, long ago. The bride, one of the lovely daughters of Pointe a la Hache, a beautiful girl never looked fairer than on this auspicious occasion and wore a gown of white organdy trimmed with lace sprays of lilies of the valley. KEYES were united in marriage on Wednesday morning the 16th of October, 1895, at St. Vincent de Paul's Church in the 3rd District. The bride was escorted by her uncle, Mr. J. Mr. Lory is a rising and talented member of the New Orleans bar and by his upright principles has won the esteem of all, he is well and favorable known in Plaquemines Parish, his native parish. The marriage was performed in a sad manner, from the sick bed of the young husband, who is seriously ill with a malignant type of fever. He arrived from Madisonville last Saturday and immediately fell ill at his fair young wife's home. Mr. Jay is 20 years of age and is employed in a lumber mill at Madisonville. Miss Williams is the daughter of the late Felix Williams who lost his life from grief of the freeze of 1895 that almost destroyed his Orange grove. MR. M. W.
