All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** This cemetery is located on the river road from New Roads to LaBarre, Louisiana about eight miles from the town of New Roads. This community is sometime known as Pointe Coupee. The ground for Chapel and Cemetery was given by the LABATUT family and when the church at Bayou Sarah finally went into the Mississippi, the bodies of Mrs. and Mrs. John Pierre Labatut were brought and placed in a large tomb erected to the left and directly to back of the Chapel. This tomb was erected in 1901. There are very few marked graves left there. Most have been moved to St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in New Roads, Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana. However, listed below are the marked graves in the cemetery now. (1) LABATUT - tomb John Pierre Labatut, born: 7-20-1788, died: 2-4-1827 Mrs. John Pierre Labatut, nee Eupheme Barra, born 1-4-1802, died 8-16-1838 Jules Labatut, died 1918 Mrs. Jules Labatut, nee Clelie Ransom, died January 1900 Emanuel, son of Clelie and Jules Labatut Eugene, son of Clelie and Jules Labatut Albert Labatut, died 6-7-1938, age 72 yrs. Mrs. Albert Labatut, nee Valentine Dayries, died 9-1937, 65 years. Miss Clelie Labatut, sister of Jules Labatut, died November 20, 1955, aged 85 years. Two infants who died at birth, sons of Dutch Labatut and brother Nickey Labatut. (2) MORRISON plot Walter Christian Morrison, son of Jacob Haight Morrison, born 9-19-1871, died 7-6-1941 Marie Camille Seghers, wife of Walter Christian Morrison, born 11-10-1875, died 1943 Walter C. Morrison, Jr., born 1-11-1903, died 1-14-1907, first son of Walter Christian and Camille Seghers Morrison Stevenson W. Turpin, Jr., born 2-2-1888, died 10-19-1895. Brother of Camille Seghers Morrison of second marriage of her mother Salome Seghers Turpin.
